The Sangster

Good day all and welcome to Victoria for the 3rd running of The Sangster. The last 2 winners where RUDY in 2009 and last years winner was WHERE’S INDY(KY)but this years race looks to be the best one yet. The weather is fine and a big croud has come to watch this big race of the day. No doubt each punter will have his favourite but this years race is very open and any horse could win this easily.

4 year old by UNBRIDLED’S SONG and is yet to miss a placing over the distance. Had a nice win last start in The Coolmore GR2 over 1500m on this track and has got D Evans on his back which will be a plus. Look for her to finish the race strongly and could sneak away and win this.

5 year old by SADLER’S WELLS who is yet to be proven at graded level, but has shown she has the ability to run well in stakes races. Her first 2 starts were at this track where D Evans rode her both times for a top 5 finish both times, but he has jumped off her back for what I believe is a better ride. I don’t think she can win here but should put in a good run.

Another 4 year old by UNBRIDLED’S SONG but this one isn’t as good as her half sister. Has won in this class once before and is yet to be beaten over the distance. Even with her odds she will be a big chance.

4 year old by WAR CHANT and this one finished 2nd in The Coolmore last start. Yet to miss a place over this distance and has raced in higher graded races. Looked like the winner with 200m to go but just ran out of steem. The less 300m will suit and looks strong here.

6 year old by KINGMAMBO and she’s not known for her sprinting ability. Just the one start on the sprint and that was over this distance in The Sapphire GR-3 last year where she finished fourth. Getting a bit old and this one could go either way.

5 year old by FORESTRY and our second favourite. Well she has some impressive stats but did finish fourth in The Coolmore GR-2 with J Cox on his back again. Will have to improve here to beat the other 2 horses that beat her last start.

Well there we have it, the trainers have done all they can now it’s up to the jockeys and horses to do the rest. I believe it will be a race in 2 with FREEDOM FESTIVAL(KY) to nudge out BOISCOOL(KY) once again.
