BBRS The Ozark

Welcome to Arkansas for this years The Ozark Bargain Bred Stakes.  We have a great eight horse field that will take their shots at not only some stakes points, but a piece of the 75,000 purse as well.  We will be going a mile and one sixteenth on the fast dirt today.  Before we meet our runners, let’s get a little background info on the Bargain Bred Racing Series.  Everyone knows those power sires in the Sim such as A.P. Indy, Kingmambo, Sadler’s Wells, and many others.  What is very tough to do is breed a horse that costs less BP’s of the Sire, DS, and DDS.  That is just what these guys are though.  A Bargain Bred horse is one bred from scratch for under 100 BP’s!  That’s right folks, every one of these runners cost less than your power bred horses Sire.  And now lady’s and gentlemen let’s meet our runners in today’s The Ozark!

1.      Our first horse out of the gate today is Ultimate Betrayal.  This horses pedigree looks like this Bertrando X Traditionally X Slew City Slew.  The proud owner of this Bargain Bred baby is blznprize.  Ultimate Betrayal is a 3 year old colt who has two races, both on the dirt, under his belt.  The first was a nice 80 SP MSW win in his first races.  He than finished second in an NW2L Allowance last time out with a nice 89 SP.  Those are the only two races for this guys as he looks to climb the ladder from ALW placer to Stakes winner.  Ultimate Betrayal is currently sitting at 5/1 and will get jockey V. Jennings for the ride.

2.      True New Yorker will be out of gate number two today.  This three year old colt has a total of seven races under his belt, all on the dirt.  The pedigree for this guy looks like this, Hook and Ladder X Crusader Sword X Nobel Nashua.  After winning his first race as a 2YO, this guy went the Allowance route, and has not left it since.  He has been running well in the last three as he has finished second, first, and second with SP’s of 81, 91, and 91.  Ba is the owner of this bargain bred who is sitting at 8/5.  He will also get jockey A. Weldon for the ride.

3.      Western Score looks to score another win on the dirt today.  This three year old colt has three races under his belt.  The first on turf was a second place finish.  Owner kingsbest opted for the dirt in race two and he was not disappointed.  Western Score scored a win and continued into a claimer in his last race.  He scored a second place finish in that race running in a 150,000 NW2L claimer.  Do not count this guy out as anything can happen in the Bargain Bred Series.  The pedigree for this guy shapes up like this, Even The Score X Western Cat X Sunshine Forever.  Western Score is sitting at 15/1 with jockey A. Arthur aboard.

4.      Courtroom Drama meets us at the gate halfway through the field.  This three year old colt’s pedigree looks a bit like this, Petionville X America’s Storm X Areazi.  This guy had a rough start to his racing career, but finally got things straightened out four races back when he broke his maiden.  SP’s have been on the rise since then, and he has even managed to his 80 two races back.  Though this guy only finished 4th in his only allowance try last race, you can not count him out.  The owner of Courtroom Drama will hope that jockey S. Proudfoot can bring this 6/1 shot to the winners circle.

5.      Pepe’s Bat starts the downhill decent of horses in today’s race.  This three year old is the only mare in the race, and has just two lifetime races on the dirt.  She has a total of five races on the turf though she has not won any.  In her two races on the dirt, she has ran fourth and first though her highest SP’s have been on the turf.  She does seem to prefer the longer distances as she tries this mile and sixteenth today.  Her pedigree is Stormin Fever X Iron X Slick Slew.  Owner of Pepe’s Bat is zman2 and he hopes that jockey N. Wilks can take this 11/1 shot home with some stakes points.

6.      Post Fever will be out of gate six today.  This three year old colt is not unfamiliar with the stakes ranks.  Tough he only has four races under his belt, two of those have been in listed stakes races where he has finished seventh and third with SP’s of 69 and 91.  The 69 came as a  two year old, and the 91 as his first three year old race.  The pedigree for this Bargain Bred monster looks like this, Roaring Fever X Postponed X Illustrious.  The owner of Post Fever, thanxheaps, hopes that the 4/1 odds and jockey N. Rivers is enough to get this guy a win.

7.      Video Killed no not the radio star, but the last MSW field he was in.  Yes that is right, this three year old colt is fresh out of the maiden ranks.  He has seven races under his belt, and broke his maiden last time out with a career high 79 SP.  Once again I can not stress how much past performance has an effect on these Bargain Bred races.  Even though this guy has not run in anything but MSW races, he is still a threat to every horse in the race.  The pedigree for this guy is, Opera House X Fast Play X Lion Hearted, and he is a 6/1 shot in the race today.  The jockey for this guy will be A. Fairfield, and owner is once again zman2.  If you remember zman2 was owner of Pepe’s Bat.

8.      African Porcupine rounds out today’s field of eight.  This guy has yet to break his maiden, but has been running pretty good SP’s.  SP’s have been on the rise for this three year old colt with five races under his belt.  Every one of those five races, all in MSW’s, have resulted in a fourth place finish.  He hopes to run like an African Gazelle today.  Owner plano5 looks to break that string with a nice Stakes win.  The pedigree for this guy looks like this, Auto Pilot X Menifee X Inherent Star.  The odds on African Porcupine are 7/1 and he will get jockey F. Cherry for the ride.

What a great field we have for the Bargain Bred Series today.  I love the mix of runners that we have all the way from stakes placers to horses that have not yet broke their maiden.  I feel that there are only a few horses that stick out in today’s race.  If I had to choose a tri-fecta, I would take 2 and 6 to come in first and second either way.  The others I feel will all be battling, and you never know who can win it.  I want to thank you for reading this pre race article and hope you join me again at some point in your Sim racing careers.  Remember for all of your Sim racing articles head on over to the BTB Forum under Forums on the main page.  I’m Dylan and from all of us at the BTB thanks again for reading and let the racing begin!
