Full field of fourteen for Juvy Filly Turf
Saturday’s Breeder’s Bowl Filly Juvy Turf has brought out a full field,
including all five top-rated and most of the top seventeen. With speed
figures in a narrow range, and those figures in one of those last two
races, the race seems very competitive with the favorite at 5-1 and the
longest at 18-1.
1) Invisibility Cloak 6 3-0-3 $161,000 12-1
She won her last race, a GIII, but seems to prefer an off track with
some 85% of her earnings on non-firm tracks.
2) Lucky’s Dodie 5 4-0-0 $367,000 11-1
About 85% of her earnings have come from turf races. She has wins on
both dirt and turf. She won her last race, a GI. Her average earned per
race is one of the highest.
3) Crosby 7 2-3-1 $393,000 9-1
She won her last race, a GI, but by only a nose, so she may not have
quite enough to beat these.
4) Noe Valley 6 3-1-2 $123,000 14-1
Most of her earnings have been on turf, about half of which came from
her only route.
Her owner, who is also running Texas Sky, comments:
“Noe Valley – This filly is improving by leaps and bounds, which you can
see by the fact that her speed figures have gone up with each successive
start. She’s another that took her game to a new level when stretched
out to a mile, beating males pretty easily. She also figures to get a
sweet trip with her positional speed and ability to finish.”
5) Hopewell Valley 6 2-3-1 $154,000 15-1
Another whose turf races have provided the bulk of her earnings. She
also won her last, a GIII.
6) D’s Spirit 7 3-1-1 $357,000 11-1
All her races have been on turf. Her last race was a GI which she lost
by 1/4 length.
7) The Libertine 6 3-2-1 $479,000 5-1
She won her last race, a GII, at this distance with the highest speed
figure of any entrant in this field. She is the number one turf filly as
well as the favorite.
8) Special Me 7 6-1-0 $557,000 9-1
She’s not run this distance but has won three at 7 furlongs. She won her
last, a GIII, but her highest speed figure came in a GI before that
where she was second.
9) Texas Sky 5 3-1-1 $208,000 11-1
She barely won her last, a GII at eight furlongs. All her races have
been on turf.
Her owner comments:
“Texas Sky – She really stepped it up when stretched out to two turns
last time, which is no surprise seeing that she is by Galileo. She will
have to keep improving to factor in here, but I can see her doing just
that. She’s run just 5 times, and has had 7 weeks (by design) to
recover from that race. Another positive is that I don’t see much in
the way of early speed. I think she can make the lead pretty easily.”
One final note though… they both will have their hands full on
Saturday. That filly Rotarian looks like a beast.
10) SJ’s Carsonado 7 6-0-0 $416,000 9-1
She was unplaced in her first race but obviously has not lost since
then. Her last race was a stakes race.
11) Cowboy Street 6 5-1-0 $232,000 15-1
She also won her last race, a GIII, with a speed figure a few points
below her best.
12) Art of Losing 5 4-1-0 $458,000 18-1
All her races have been turf sprints. She won her last, a GI, with the
second best speed figure in this field.
Her owner comments:
“This filly is flying at the moment, and should be right up to her ears in this company”
“The Mile will be no problem, the only concern is she hasn’t raced for 9 weeks. If she can overcome that she should have a real good shot but The Libertine looks the toughest opponent”
13) Rotarian 7 7-0-0 $252,000 7-1
Her perfect record doesn’t tell us that she has one of the lowest
average-earnings-per-start in this field. On the plus side, her last
three races have been at Saturday’s distance. She’s the second choice at
7-1.
Her owner comments:
“She is 7 from 7 and has been winning with ease, has made her run
through the classes nicely winning her maiden by ½ length then jumped up
to an open allowance with an extra furlong winning pretty much from post
to post then came the step up to stakes level which proved no problem
even though I had to bring her back half a furlong..then the step up in
distance followed with her next start a 7.5furlong stakes then up to the
mile which proved no problem at all.then came the step up to graded
company last start and was untouched to win by 1 ¾ lengths. This filly is
just thriving on racing, she never leaves an oat and has trained on with
no problems.I cant fault her whole prep and was very happy with her work
leading into the big one, if theres a little down side it’s the fact she
is unbeaten and eventually they all get beaten so lets hope its not this
week..Im hoping she’ll settle around midfield and all going well she’ll
be right in the finish, she’s yet to really have the acid put on her so
it will be interesting to she what fight she has when the pressures on,
its going to be a fantastic race that im really looking forward to and
hopefully I’ll be celebrating this time next week..i have been in these
bb races before with the best being a couple of 3rd placings so I know
how hard they are to get a horse in let alone win I’ll also be saddling
up 1 in the colts division as well so fingers crossed maybe a double
celebration that would be the icing on the cake for sure.”
14) Kanly 5 2-2-1 $135,000 9-1
She lost her last, a GII, by a nose with a respectable speed figure.
