Eric Roo Stakes WrapUp
A great race from the Eric Roo Stakes in Tassie this weekend where the field of 7 runners battled it out over the mile and 3/8ths on what was rated in the end a firm turf track although there was initially some debate over that until the groundsman realised he had left his glasses at his house and was in fact looking at the bog hole out the back of his house rather than the actual track.
Regardless, it was a good race in the end with Far From Ojai taking it out with a good speed of 106. Trainer ojai09 was particularly happy making the following comments post race…
“The big Grey mare came from dead last 13 lengths back to win the Stakes race in Tasmina which is far from her home in Ojai Ca. A moderate breed horse 280bps out of cee’s tizzy has a great career all on the turf. She like to come way behind and has a great strech kick.”
so there you have it folks – a very good winner and out of moderate breeding as per her trainer so they are both very happy today. Hardly unexpected as she was in good form and I did suggest she had a very good chance in my pre-race writeup. (I do get some things right!).
California Loop who I thought was a winner ran in second after being overtaken by Far From Ojai in the straight. Led early but couldn’t keep up the pace over this distance. Sisson’s Sadness ran in third and was closing still so an excellent run there too.
All in all good race – thanks for reading and I ended up getting 125 credits for the pre-race article so 50/50 on that gets you 70 credits to the ojai stable…
See you all next week
