Crimson Warrior Shows New Gear!
Crimson Warrior came marching home in the Knick Knack Juvenile Grade One stakes race today. The turf was yielding and so were the frontrunners in this $500,000 mile and a sixteenth race at Queensland Raceway for two year olds.
Crimson Warrior has now finished first or second in every race he’s entered and has won nearly $400,000. He certainly didn’t look like a winner early in this race as the Red Ransom colt was in tenth position and nearly seven lengths back at the half way point. That was where he kicked it up a bit and was hanging in fourth before he found a gear that no one else in the race had and powered down the stretch past everyone. He has now never finished worse than one and half behind the winner in his five starts and is a graded winner to boot. He has excellent breeding with Red Ransom out of Amanda Jane. This lovely broodmare had a wonderful racing career with 20 wins in 68 races and 17 of those were stakes wins. She earned nearly $3.5 million. But her breeding career may be even better with three colts that have all won stakes races and now two of them are graded winners. Trainer dowelly has Crimson Warrior and Classic Dowelly in his dowelly stable and has to have big dreams for these two colts.
Glory B Good, Hopes and Fears and Rock for the Ages all jumped out to the early lead but only Hopes and Fears was able to stick it out to the end where he got a first hand look at Crimson Warrior flying by in the stretch. Blessed Road ran a nice race as well and moved from 11th up to third with a huge push as well but didn’t quite have that gear that Crimson Warrior had.
Trainer dowelly will now have to give his prized pony a rest and plan his course to future greatness.
