The Amity Stakes
The six furlong Amity will feature 11 promising dirt loving bargains in Upper New York. This race features co-favorites in EAGLE VIEW and the filly YOU ME AND THEM. Both runners are stakes proven winners. Another filly RISTRETTO should be a big factor in this one.
Once again the knightmare residency has put on another grand day of bargain racing. Now let us take a look at the field:
1-GREEK HOPE (FL) 11/1
STRONG HOPE x RHODES x FORMAL DINNER
Trainer: HILLNDALE
Jockey: F Solomon
Career: 2-1-0-0 $30,026
Broke maidens first time out over six furlongs with a speed figure of 69. In her last start she came back to earth after finishing fifth. I love Strong Hope here as sire, but I am not sure she can hang with the elite in this one.
2-FLYING ENZEE (IRE) 10/1
FLYING LEGEND x LODE x WAVERING MONARCH
Trainer: PROPORTZB
Jockey: C Orza
Career: 4-2-2-0 $68,204
She finished third in her first start then followed that up with a second place start. Now she has won two in a row and continues to show improvement. With her fastest speed figure being 68 she will need to show more speed in this one.
3-SLEW THE BUDA (PA) 13/1
BUDDHA x SLEW CITY SLEW x PINCKNEY
Trainer: MKBARGAIN
Jockey: P Nabinger
Career: 1-1-0-0 $13,980
I am absolutely a huge fan of Unbridled’s Song over Seattle Slew, and as if that is not enough the dds is by Speak John. The result is one beautiful hypothetical breeding. Now this filly has to prove she is as good as her pedigree and produce two wins and a row. She certainly showed great speed first time out with a 73.
4-HAWERA (SAF) 6/1
JOD POT x BOX OFFICE EVENT x ORBIT DANCER
Trainer: BOLDCRUISA
Jockey: S Hommell
Career: 3-1-2-0 $34,950
Inbreeding Seattle Slew over Northern Dancer gets you this fine colt. He won his first time out and has followed up with consecutive second places finishes. Those two races he posted 75 and 79 speeds respectively. This Judpot has the potential to be a spoiler in this one.
5-KAHAL’S A BARGAIN (SAF) 17/1
KAHAL x DOOWALEY x SHAREEF DANCER
Trainer: SCORPION
Jockey: B Cooper
UNRACED
If this was the respective counterpart race on turf I would give this horse a better chance. Unfortunately, this race has some strong proven bargains which means KAHAL’S A BARGAIN is more than likely going to be outmatched in this one.
6-EAGLE VIEW (SAF) 4/1
COUNTER ACTION x SAUMEREZ x Fort Wood
Trainer: DRAGNIL
Jockey: Z Ayya
Career: 5-2-1-1 $57,750
This colt has already managed a win and a second place finish in stakes. He even tried his foot in a grade three stakes race! He is fast at this distance. He is proven, and absolutely a certified bargain monstah!!!
7-RISTRETTO (KY) 5/1
MUTAKDDIM x STATE DINNER x DANCE IN TIME
Trainer: STCEMLAG
Jockey: T Kallor
Career: 4-1-2-1 $53,464
This filly broke maidens last time out with a speed figure of 84 over seven furlongs. She is a fine cross of Seeking the Gold over Buckpasser, and Northern Dancer. RISTRETTO has really come on lately and certainly must be given serious consideration in this one. She may be the best bargain in this race, but I think she wants longer than the others, and thus is out kicked in this short sprint.
8-YOU ME AND THEM (WA) 4/1
YOU AND I x GREEN TUNE x SONG OF TARA
Trainer:TEEJAY01
Jockey: R Radzinsky
Career: 4-2-1-0 $42,115
Here is a filly that has broke maidens and won stakes. She finished fourth last time out in stakes with a 74 speed figure. She has three consecutive speed figures over 70. She is a very special runner and I would love to see what she can do on the turf. She would have been interesting in the Sanford Park Stakes. She is a contender here.
9-RUB THE BUDDHA (PA) 10/1
BUDDHA x VISION AND VERSE x TOKATEE
Trainer: WALMTK
Jockey: K Shelly
Career: 2-1-0-1 $16,412
Broke maidens first time out at this distance then went a mile and posted his best speed figure with a 71 while finishing third. We still don’t know if the second race was faster because of the added furlongs, or if he just showed more speed. If he wants to sprint he could be scary good in this one. A lot to love about this ten to one Buddha!
10-POST FEVER (NY) 8/1
ROARING FEVER x POSTPONED x ILLUSTRIOUS
Trainer: THANXHEAPS
Jockey: Z WALKER
Career: 1-1-0-0 $13,980
This colt starts his career one for one after posting a brisk 72 speed figure. He narrowly won that race over a horse named LOOK AT MY CANON. That horse went onto post a 82 speed figure last time out. Considering that I am considering POST FEVER to be the real deal!
11-DUNSKIRT (KY) 13/1
DUNKIRK x PROSPECTOR’S MUSIC x SKY CLASSIC
Trainer: LGLONG2OYW
Jockey: P Ornstar
Career: 3-1-0-0 $31,520
She broke maidens on the turf with an insanely slow speed figure of 51. She bounced back with consecutive solid speed figures on dirt of 64 and 70, but she failed to place in either of those races. She has some speed to hang with this crowd, but she needs to show she can finish strong in the money.
CONCLUSION:
This race is EAGLE VIEW’s to lose. Look for SLEW THE BUDDHA along with RUB THE BUDDHA to be strong contenders. It won’t be HAWERA’s day. YOU ME AND THEM will struggle before he goes onto become a great turf bargain runner. I am going with EAGLE VIEW, but I won’t be betting against the power of the BUDDHA in this one.
