Queensland Review Week 4358
QUEENSLAND REVIEW WEEK 4358
FEATURE RACES
Only four runners contested the Amanda Jane Memorial with the win going to the hurryup stable representative REJECTED WISDOM. Queensland’s finest hoop C Wyatt settled third in the small field before making her move in the stretch to win by nearly four lengths in an impressive display. It takes her record to six wins and nine placings from 25 starts and $165,047 in stakes.
The other Stakes race on the card was the Dalesbark Cup which attracted a very good field of two year olds for the $100,000 purse. The winner was SKY IS CRYING from the super25 stable ridden by that man again C Wyatt who settled just off the pace before reaching the lead deep into the stretch and then holding off the late challenge from VESAN to score a narrow victory. It is the second win by the Street Cry colt from three starts following a debut win in New Zealand and takes his stakes earnings to $154,625.
THE LOCALS
It was a big day for the local trainers with no less than six winners being registered. The most impressive performance was by the nycstables SLACKER in the latest edition of Owner Restricted Golden Oldies Series over the staying trip of eleven furlongs. “He will win” said nycstables before the race and they were proven correct with his seventh win from 39 career starts with $266,773 in stakes.
In the mares version of the Golden Oldies ALPINE WINGS from the foxon4 stables scored an all the way win in an impressive staying performance. “She is a grand old gal winding down her career but we did expect her to go well” said foxon4 stable reps after the race. It was her 16th win from 47 starts and stakes of $969,644 in a wonderful career thus far.
The grey mare BIRCHGROVE CAT from the balbjw stable scored a good win in the Mares Allowance race with my very own three year old SIMLIN from the stevesim3 stable defeating his older rivals in the Local Bred Maiden race over the sprint course. They were two Juvenile winners also with SEBRING SONG from the justeng stable and WINMAR representing kombi both scoring there first wins of their careers thus far.
PUNTERS CORNER
The Straight Six jackpotted again paying $7228 for a $2 live ticket while C Wyatt scored another four winners including both Stakes races and continues to lead every category in the jockeys premiership. The best supported winner in the bookmakers ring was the locally trained SEBRING SONG after a good first up performance. A big plunge on the jackofoz owned EAGLE FARM who started at the juicy odds of 11/1 almost came off when he was beaten into third place finishing well from midfield.
NEXT WEEK
The features of next week’s card are the NIEDERMEYER CUP for three year old fillies over seven and a half furlongs on turf and the Owner Restricted 2YO MAIDEN beginning the HAWKZ KIWI COMP.
Cheers
