The Louisiana Review

With no stakes races carded this past week, we still saw some impressive efforts over the local strip.

RODOTs

Oddla‘s Seattle Legend continued his local bred  pilfering with a two length win in tuesday’s $40k claimer, over 6.5 on the dirt.  The 5yo Road To Seattle horse would be riding a four race win streak now, if not for the exceptionally large nose of RACINFREE. Ich Leibe Dich, turnover1‘s 5yo Freud horse took a cpu conditioned $30k claimer under B Rayam, while ceclaim34 sent out Arkansas bred I’m A Horse, by Fan The Flame, for a win in tuesday’s other $30k cpu claimer.  A Jolly was in the irons.

Saturday

This weekend’s local bred contest was taken by Konowa, a 4yo Rossini mare the murph stables picked up from me via the auction not long ago I believe.  Nice to see her winning, even if it’s not for me, as she took the $10k claimer under the confident handling of F Oxon.

The third race last weekend was a eye popper by Activator, a 5yo Smarty Jones runner that rewarded the patience of the Shamrock Stables lifetime best 110 spf, covering the dirt mile in 1:34 1/5. A very nice claim for $2k in July of ’08, he has since been kept close to his favored mile distance and responded well with the last six races all producing spf’s over 100.

Rharfo showed off a nice claim as well, taking Spartan Revenge for $30k on May 8th and then easily winning a $75k NW2L here saturday,  covering the 9 furlongs in 1:49 4/5 under O Euler.

Maiden highlights came from zz2912‘s Mystic Charm, a late running 2yo More Than Ready filly that closed from eleventh to win by just over two lengths.  Carelessly, a 3yo Distorted Humor colt from the canyongate stable posted a 95 spf in a one mile msw under jockey A Jolly, improving quite a bit off his sprint debut.

In other allowance competition, lenny7‘s 4yo Smart Strike colt, Terrified, covered nine panels in 1:47 4/5 with D Hogin in the saddle.  Other notable winners were Atogatog, StarBox(IRE), and True Tale.

The Royal Belgian Kempen Farm posted a training double this week, with a rodot win as well as another on saturday, and jockey A Jolly had a five bagger to lead all local riders for the week.
