Eleven world class sprinters going for a million eight.  Here they are from hedge outward.

Circumstance  5 YO Gone West horse.

Why he might win:  Excellent current form.  Won last three starts with deadly stalk and pounce tactics.  Speed figures continually improving.  The “now” horse.

Why he might not:  Lacks stakes experience.  Only added money start was in owner restricted company.  Seems to prefer more distance.  0 for 4 at six furlongs.  Very weak rider.

Alyshaft  5 YO Mineshaft horse.

Why he might win:  World class trainer.  Nobody prepares a horse for big races better than Lenny.  Grade I placed twice at the distance.  Likes the track.  Three wins and a second in five starts.  Career best speed fig two races back.

Why he might not:  Last race was very poor.  Inconsistent.  Has never won a stakes race of any kind.

Road Not Taken  5 YO Storm Cat horse.

Why he might win:  Proven grade I winner.  Approaching two million in career earnings.  Won prep race and may be sitting on a big one.

Why he might not:  Has won only 2 of last 10 starts.  Been a year since he won a stake of any kind.  Best days may be behind him.

Scientific Proof  5 YO Galileo horse.

Why he might win:  Razor sharp.  Powerful wins last two races, both stakes.  Proven performer this level as indicated by his 2.5 million in the bank.  Won this event last year.  Top jock.

Why he might not:  Lost 10 in a row before recent form spree.  Has never won three straight.

Why Not Try Again  6 YO Swain horse.

Why he might win:  Has won every other start lately.  Due for the “good” race.  Does have one stakes win on his resume.

Why he might not:  Only graded attempt was not encouraging.  Former claimer.  In very tough.

Eight Six Sevenfive  6 YO Stravinsky horse.

Why he might win:  Six time stakes winner and graded placed.  Top outfit generally sends ’em ready.

Why he might not:  0 for 7 in graded tries.  Only one win last nine months.

Aesculapius  5 YO North Light horse.

Why he might win:  Arrives in splendid form having won three of his last four.  Versatile racing style.  Proven stakes winner.  Solid rider.

Why he might not:  Never faced this kind before.  Finds a tough group for graded debut.

Marlais  4 YO Dylan Thomas colt.

Why he might win:  Threw a 119 speed figure two back.  Wins this if replicates that effort.  Has won half his lifetime starts while finishing in the money often.

Why he might not:  Finished 3rd with a 105 speed fig after the 119 race.  Only ten lifetime starts.  No graded experience.

Portland Bay  5 YO Beat Hollow colt.

Why he might win:  Stakes placed three of last four.  Career best speed fig last out.

Why he might not:  Never won a stakes race.  In very tough here.

In My Blood  4 YO Holy Roman Emperor colt.

Why he might win:  Won the Grade I Teleprompter two back.  Chased home Given’s streaking Tatsu in his Equinics silver medal performance last time out while producing a 115 speed number.  Multiple graded winner is rock solid favorite.

Why he might not:  Just one win in last seven outings.  Anything can happen in a horse race.

Grange  5 YO Encosta De Lago horse.

Why he might win:  On a roll.  Seeks third straight.  Career best 108 speed fig last time out.

Why he might not:  This field is light years better than the horses he’s been beating.
