Chalk Holds up as Blazing Sevens Runs Textbook Race

It was an honest pace but not a brutal one, and morning line favorite Blazing Sevens let 4/1 shot Dubai Destroyer take the lead while he sat just off the leader’s shoulder for two thirds of the race. Blazing Sevens then shifted into another gear and nosed ahead by the third call, which spelled the end of Dubai Destroyer’s chances for this race. Shortly after that, the second favorite in the race at 5/2, Cahill Harbor found HIS next gear and ran right by Dubai Destroyer. But it was just a bit too little and too late, as Blazing Sevens wound up taking the Hugo De Pero(AUS) Special Stakes in a time of 1:28 4/5, earning a speed figure of 104.

Blazing Stevens added to his remarkable resume, pushing his career earnings to over $1.6 Mil. For the runner up, things weren’t looking too bleak though. After 25 career dirt races to start his career, Cahill Harbor has just run his 5th consecutive turf race, with all 5 being no worse than 2nd. And three of them were in stakes company.

An excellent race that went pretty much how the oddsmakers figured it.
