Czech Yourself!

93

Czech Republic (CZ)

Hot Trainer : bonnyd

Week  4186  4190

(2 races; 1-1-0); $8,265

Local Breedings : CZE , DEN , SWE , NOR , SWI , HOL , BAH , HUN , POL , BEL

Last week bonnyd (one of mine) took the Hot Trainer award, probably by default.  Perhaps none of the other 17 winning trainers had other horses hit the board?  MY MAN MANAS(CZE) got the job done in a Local-Bred MdSpWt.  He’ll stay right here until a restricted allowance race is carded at one of the eligible tracks.

This week’s Local Bred Races

(RODOTS) Claiming ($3500) ,   8.5 Turf Non-Winners of TWO within the last 6 months
3 human and 1 CPU horses went to post, where 7yo TETE HERO(SWE)  won his second in a row for trainer John3540.  Not bad for a $1 auction pickup just four weeks ago.

(Race 9301) Claiming  ($10,000)   6F dirt CPU*45    2 human entries and 2 computer oldies make for a sure Breeding Points payoff.   9yo horse CARLHAMILTON probably gets claimed for he-mare purposes.  Tough to find older horses for these conditions, but they are golden if you’ve got em.  Only a $1700 purse, so if its money you’re after, don’t come to Czechoslovakia!

Races and Horses of Interest

(9303)  Open allowance sprint drew Rockriver’s 17 time-winner BACON SANDWICH.  He’s won 4 stakes races at the age of two…way back in 2004.  Cool!

(9305)  Maiden Special Weight for F&M attracted even-money CHASING HAMBURG(AUS), a daughter of RED RANSOM and the Hall of Famer SEATTLE HIT.  Talk about bloodlines!  If her first two starts are any indication (closed from 14th to second in her latest), she’ll just be warming up as they cross the finish line.   SOL INVICTUS(ENG) is the lone threat, whose lineage is no slouch, either.  She’s a first timer by PIVOTAL(GB) and ½ to the Grade I millionaire SPARTIATE.  Who says there aren’t nice horses in CZE?

(9307) Claiming  ($25,000)  A number of these may receive a long, hard look at the claim box.  I won’t tell you which ones I’m interested in, but it’s a competitive field.

(9311)  Claiming ($25,000)  STORM IN THE WEST drops into a claimer for the first time in her 25 race career for Magoo Lodge, and is not likely to run under those colors next time out.  ALCATRAZ CRUISE looked good off the claim and the stretch-out in distance, but is moving up a few notches in class.  If you’re a bettor, you’d better bet her at 14-1.  This class and condition is a good spot to try your younger mares that are not allowance level, as many breeders are all tapped out and not looking for broodmare prospects at the claim box.  It’ll be interesting to see what shakes out!

And finally…. DONNYBEISBOL’s RACE OF THE WEEK!!!!

Race 9309  Open Allowance 6.5 Furlongs Turf

http://derbyfever.com/hr/lg00001/weekly/forms/form9309.html

This race came up monster tough, with old guard SISSON’S HOLLOW(GB) trying to fend off impressive new 4yos MAGIC WORKER and TURKISH THUNDER.  TEA OASIS(ENG) has won three straight stakes (!!!) but has not raced since week 4057.  Welcome back, Snowchief!

Random Stats and Stuff You Might Like

Avg field size:  7.75 starters

Full fields (14): 3

Short fields(4): 4, plus 3 fields of only 5

MdSpWt purse:  $8,100

Jockeys:    M. Bia  has jumped out to an early lead with 6 winners from 11 mounts, with last year’s top rider J. Wilson winning 4 out of his 18 tries (that’s all 16 on the card plus 2 RODOTS races).  Some guy named D. Samaan managed a win in four tries last week, but only managed 3 rides this week, and the “good” mount is 11/1.

Donnybeisbol-trained entrants for the week:  One.  Race 9302  SILENT BETRAYAL(AUS) http://derbyfever.com/hr/runtime/prettyhorse.asp?hossnum=117348 looks as good as a first time starter can in a 5 horse field.  The 2/5 favorite (and lone 4yo) MIZZEN APPEAL is a mortal lock if his dirt form translates to this distance on the turf.

Kirby.  Everybody knows Kirby – but it seems he is going to be especially popular in Prague this week.  I counted at least 5 Kirby trained horses on the card, with probably some unknown others that he races under various pseudonyms.  Mr. Kirby is a solid 3-man player and a prolific 2yo trainer, so perhaps he has some tricks up his sleeve for the springtime here at ol’ Track 93.

If you race at Track 93 and want to see your name in lights, email those comments to donnybeisbol@yahoo.com or send PM to beisbol on the message board forum.  See you next week!
