PP #1 Sunday Stones-Bustin Stones x Sunday Silence x Nureyev, 12-1 with J Turner up
Trainer: Silverny99
This filly against the boys is undefeated on turf. She was running competitively on dirt in her 1st four starts, but then the move to turf sealed the deal, when she broke her maiden 1st time out on turf. She went gate to wire winning by 1 1 /2. Then she followed that up, stretching out a ½ furlong, and winning by ¾ of a length, earning a 82 speed figure. She should have a bunch of pace pressure early. So, she needs a big race to compete.
PP #2 Monte Prado-Montjeu x El Prado x Wild Again, 7-2 with F Cross up
Trainer: Tgerk
This Montjeu colt is coming in off two straight wins. He is 6 for 7 in the money in his career, the one race out of the money was a 4th. So, he is very consistent. He comes off a career best 87 speed figure. He ran in an 8f turf allowance. He was 10 back going down the backstretch, but moved within 7 going around the turn. He closed bunches of ground to get up and win by almost two. He should be sitting a good trip early, and should be in the money.
PP #3 Westward Preacher-Arch x Gone West x Deputy Minister, 7-1 with T Ace up
Trainer: Npark28002
Another filly against the boys, comes in off an allowance also, but was 2nd. She also started her career on dirt, but broke her maiden on dirt. She is also a pace factor. Last out at 8.5f in an allowance, she took the early lead, but was down a head going down the backstretch. She was down almost two going around the turn, and tired late to finish 2nd beaten 4 ¼. She earned an 85 speed figure. She should be up close early, but also needs a huge effort.
PP #4 Awesome III Esq. (Whatever that means) Awesome Again x Danzig x A.P. Indy, 5-2 with P Jolly up
Trainer: CMD
A blueblood 2yo colt by Awesome Again comes in off a career best 90 speed figure, in a listed stake at 8f on turf. Another one that started on dirt, the turf unlocked the key, and he is another pace factor. He set the pace early, took a 1 ½ length lead going down the backstretch. The jockey turned him for home and he took a three length lead going around the turn, but got nabbed at the wire, maybe if he was a little better prepped, he could’ve held on. He earned a 90 speed figure. He should be up close early, and deserves a look, but the connections scare me a bit.
PP #5 Last Words-Political Force x Giant’s Causeway x Green Desert, 7-1 with C Shoemaker up
Trainer: Sim CNN(Squirrel)
This Political Force colt comes off a disappointing run in state-bred race at 8.5f on a good turf course. Also another pace factor that started on dirt! He debuted in the “The Dirt Race,” that comedy central put together. Will her get revenge in this CC event? He did race in a local bred allowance last out. He sat right off the leader early, got behind almost 2 ½ going down the backstretch. He was down three going around the turn, and tired late to finish 3rd beaten six, earning a 75 speed figure. He should be up close early, but needs to step it up to stay around late.
PP #6 Storming Rhythm-Forestry x Mr. Prospector x Nijinsky II, 11-1 with J Webb up
Trainer: Canyongate
Another blueblood, but this time its not a pace factor! His past performances are interesting looking, as he debuted at 5f on turf, finishing 5th. The had three straight dirt try’s at 5.5f to 7.5f, where he was never in contention. But, last time out at 6.5f on turf in Dubai he won impressively. He sat far back the 1st half of the race. But moved within five going around the turn, and closed well late to win by 1 ¼. He earned an 82 speed figure. He should be far back early, comes off a two month layoff, needs improvement, but the pace gives him a chance.
PP #7 Credit Cook-Spectrum x Intikhab x Great Commotion, 27-1 with J Chapman up
Trainer: Theredd
This bargain bred filly, yes, another filly, comes off almost identical races, not the type of race, the running lines. The two races were both claiming races, one for 15k and the other for 25k. In both she took a slim lead early, the opened up a bit going down the backstretch. She opened up a bigger lead going around the turn, and won wrapped up by a little over two. She earned a 72 speed figure in both. Another pace factor, but not enough speed to contend with these.
PP #8 El Gulch Channel-English Channel x Gulch x El Gran Senor, 13-1 with I Rosenbach up
Trainer: Chuckrock
This English Channel colt is 1 for 1. He did a lot at first asking winning in style. But he hasn’t raced in three months. Has Chuckrock been saving him or has he had complications since the maiden break? He debuted in a mile turf maiden. He sat right off the leaders early, maintained his position going down the backstretch. He took a one length lead going around the turn, and won wrapped up by 3 ¼. Should be sitting right off the pace, and is a fresh horse, a great play.
PP #9 Encosta Colac-Encosta De Lago x More Than Ready x Capote, 92 with P Henderson up
Trainer: Alishan
This proven Encosta De Lago filly always comes late, she probably is the best filly of the bunch, but doesn’t win much. Last out she ran in a listed four horse stake at a mile on turf. She was last of the four horse field early, down by 7 ½, she was down almost twelve going down the backstretch. She moved within 10 going around the turn, flew but didn’t get their late, she was beaten 2 ¼, finishing 2nd. She earned an 81 speed figure. She got beat by good horses in both. She will benefit from the big field, and is the pick.
PP #10 Give Me A Holler-Noble Causeway x Rainbow Quest x Kris S., 12-1 with S R Vaughan up
Trainer: Tartar
Another mare, another pace factor. She actually did break her maiden against colts, but has not won since. She comes in off an allowance try at 8.5f on turf. She sat off the leaders early, maintained her position going down the backstretch. She moved into 3rd going around the turn, but flattened out late to finish where she started, 4th, beaten almost four. She earned a 79 speed figure. She should be in mid pack early, but needs a big effort to catch the leaders.
