Bargain Bowl – Cemetery Winter Distaff

Bargain Bowl – Cemetery Winter Distaff

Bargain Bred Resident Boss Knightmare was kind enough to provide the following fun facts regarding the Cemetery Winter Distaff Bargain Bowl event that mirrors the Ladies Classic/Distaff for bargain breds. “So Do I holds the stakes record with her stunning performance in 2007. She won in 1:48 4/5 earning a 101 speed figure. She is the only one to break the 100 speed figure in this race. Favorites do not do well here although last year Rundo won as the favorite. It is not unusual for long shots to light up the board”. Cuvee Power has drawn the distinction of being the pronounced the favorite (5/2) so we will see if the Winter Distaff continues to prove difficult for the public’s darling.

  1. New Silver – 5 year old by Western Outlaw has 2 wins in 24 lifetime races but has not had a good run of it in her only 2 bargain series tries finishing 10th in the 2006 Charlie’s Tiger Juvenile and 11th in the 2008 Broadway Sprint. Speed wise she has steadily progressed throughout her career and is now running consistently in the mid 90s but it is hard to see tremendous value at 7-1.

  1. Rundo – Hawkz’ 5 yr old daughter of Wando has been a force in the Bargain Series ever since her debut a loss by a head in the 2007 Bargain Oaks. 2008 was her true coming out party as she was division winner finishing 2nd in the Summer Distaff and capturing the Bargain Bowl Winter Distaff. Ever since her victory in the Death Valley Distaff back in April her form has been way off but its hard to ever count such a game filly out. Oddsmarker’s have her as the 9/2 third choice.

  1. Meat Cleaver – I absolutely love the name that Axe gave this 3 yr old daughter of Beefchopper, quite clever indeed. The sole win of her 13 race career was an impressive win in The Ozark Diamond where she drew off by 2 ¼ lengths and she followed that up with a strong 2nd in the Bargains Oaks. It appears today’s distance may not be ideal for her (seems her best from 7.5-8f) but she is a game runner that earned her way to the dance and could run a big race.

  1. Slave To Tradition – Yours truly brings you my bargain pride and joy this three year old daughter of With Distinction. Slave to Tradition has been the dominate story on the female side this Bargain season winning the Oaks in just her 4th lifetime race. She followed that win up with wins in the Queens and Summer Distaff and a win here would put her in some elite company as far as overall bargain seasons go. She has beaten nearly all of the rivals today so if she runs her race she stands a big chance and the 4-1 odds seem quite fair indeed.

  1. Captain Condow – Ok I can not give you the scoop if this horse was the victim of a sim name change or not but what I can tell you is that this gal is the senior citizen in today’s field at the ripe old age of 8! Despite the age she only has 28 lifetime races under her belt so it is not as if she’s been over run by any stretch of the imagination. She ran a well beaten 9th in The Summer Distaff vs. many of these so it is hard to back her to win but she hits the board a lot and could help fatten exotic tickets.

  1. Bluff The Turn – Hawkz claimed this 5 year old daughter of Composer 3 back and immediately targeted her to the Bargain Summer Distaff where she finished 10th a non threatening 8 ½ lengths from the winner. Her turf prep last out may create a resurgence in her but she will need to regain her speed figures from 2008 to be much of a factor today.

  1. Nuremberg Trial – Plano has done nice things with this 3 yr old daughter of FreeFourInternet and she has been earning consistent checks thriving at the 10f distance after finishing 3rd (Oaks) and 2nd (Queens) respectively in the 3 yr old filly Bargain races. She could be a pace factor today but will need to run much bigger then her lifetime best of 87 to make major noise today.

  1. Scapola – The 2nd of Plano’s entries this daughter of Blazonry (son of Hennessy) is another front running force who can stretch it out to the tune of 9f wins. She finished 5th in last years edition and was a respectable 4th in The Summer Distaff this year so she’s earned her ticket to today’s race.

  1. Amberleigh Flame – 6 yr old daughter of Flame Thrower is on her 8th owner who is non other then Gold4ever who claimed her back in June of this year. She has run well for him in 6 races most notably leading The Summer Distaff for most of the way before getting run down late to settle for third, but that race was an indication of the type of ability she has. She prepped big last out finishing 2nd in an 8f alw and she looks primed for a really big race today. She looks to get out of the quickest and has the appearance of being the quality early speed that needs to be keyed for exotic wagering.

  1. Cuvee Power – Lgbost’s 6 year old mare by Schossberg (Broad Brush) is the people’s choice today and has been instilled as the 5/2 favorite. As Knightmare said earlier favorites have often struggled in this race but Cuvee Power should get the crowds blood boiling late as she is known for her electrifying late surges. She finished a hard surging 2nd in the Summer Distaff and has been in the money both races since then so her form is excellent heading into this race. She must be respected and it would not be a shock to see her pick up a major check here.

Prediction:

1st – Slave To Tradition, until someone beats her she gets the benefit of the doubt

2nd – Cuvee Power, she’ll be running biggest late but will have a lot of work to do to take the top spot.

3rd – Amberleigh Flame, holds on for third running very similar to her Summer Distaff race.

Good luck to all of today’s connections in all of the bargain races and take a look at getting involved in the series by either claiming or breeding a bargain bred.
