UPHEAVAL KNIEVEL(KY)     5/1

UNBRIDLED’S SONG x GONE WEST x DANZIG

Career: 16 5 5 2 $137,754

Upheaval Knievel won by a nose last time out over six furlongs with a monster 112 speed figure. Not sure if this horse was a stable transfer or sold, but since joining Gipper7 he has really taken off. Lacks big game experience, does not seem to lack big game speed!

ADONAI(KY)   12/1

AFLEET ALEX x CAPOTE x RAISE A NATIVE

Career: 23 7 4 4 $333,196

This horse has speeds that hover around the 100 speed figure mark. Last October it did win an allowance race with a 107 speed figure. The horse is close or near its peak, so it could always surprise and run a competitive race.

SUMMER FLEET(JPN)    44/1

AFLEET x SUMMER SQUALL x KEY TO THE MINT

Career: 8 3 2 1 $121,750

Here is a monster three year old that ran 98 speed figure last time out. He is over his head here I think. It really is a shame he is not entered in some of the other fine three year old races this week. He probably will be ready for older competition soon enough, but I don’t think now is the time.

SAT TEST(KY)          5/1

APTITUDE x GULCH x SILVER BUCK

Career: 20 5 5 3 $229,046

This horse has three consecutive eight place finishes and his speeds have been up and down. That is the negative; the good thing is he is a proven monster who ran a 117 speed figure in September to win the The Mine Idols Special. He is rested now and has been prepped, so let’s hope he regains the form of last September.

STAIRWAYTOPARADISE(KY)        2/1

PINE BLUFF x DYNAFORMER x TOM ROLFE

Career: 23 6 6 4 $293,514

A simply marvelous runner here in Stairwaytoparadise. He finished second in the Deep South Sprint grade one race with a sizzling 117 speed figure. He also finished third in the JFK Street, so with out a doubt he is a very capable runner. Barring a severe meltdown Stairwaytoparadise should be celebrating after this one.

WORLD WOLF(KY)         6/1

SAARLAND x GONE WEST x SEATTLE SLEW

Career: 30 5 6 1 $105,725

Normally you can expect 100 speed figures from World Wolf, but with a less than perfect track he may raise some havoc this Saturday. His last race was on a sloppy track where he finished fourth with a 112 speed figure, so he can move when conditions are to his liking. I think he likes off dirt tracks best, but he surely is worth one more shot on the grass sometime too.

BLACK ARROW(KY)      5/1

APTITUDE x GONE WEST x SEATTLE SLEW

Career: 33 8 6 3 $481,561

Last year Black Arrow ran a 114 speed figure to win The Halo Spanking Special at 7.5 furlongs. He can certainly motor, but lately age seems to be taking its toll. He finished sixth in an allowance race last time out. He may need a rebound, and this may be a good race to rebound and land in the money.

GONE FOR ROYAL(KY) 7/1

GONE WEST x STORM CAT x ROYAL SKI

Career: 18 6 4 1 $593,220

This four year old colt really needs to answer questions on whether or not he has peaked early. He ran some big races last summer, but lately he is doing well to break 100. Let’s hope he returns to form and really takes off.

GIANT HEIGHTS(KY)      4/1

GIANT’S CAUSEWAY (IRE) x DEPUTY MINISTER x GRAUSTARK

Career: 16 3 1 1 $41,971

This horse ran its best at eight furlongs with a 108 speed figure, but finished 5th. Does the horse want to sprint, or does it want longer yet. We should find out this weekend.

LEMON POINT(KY)         99/1

POINT GIVEN x LEMON DROP KID x SECRETARIAT

Career: 14 2 2 3 $64,230

This was a pretty fast two year old, and at three is okay. He could do really well if he got a starter tag. I like his pedigree, though I am not sure what he is doing in this race. His top speed is 82.
