Lender’s STENO BOOK mows down the Malibu

By ITCH

Lender’s STENO BOOK did indeed fire a big shot in the Grade 3 Malibu Miner here in week 3868 in Northern California, running on impressively to gather up the pacesetting SKIDMORE INDY and win going away by a length and a half.

Lender’s Deadinthelane Stables are sitting on a really nice, developing 4yo daughter of Storm Cat who captures her first graded race in the Malibu Miner. She got a nice, big speed figure of 112, two points off her career high of 114. This now gives Steno Book twin 110-plus speed figs at the nine-furlong distance on the main track. She certainly has proven her potency at the distance.

As mentioned, JRogue’s Skidmore Indy set the pace, pressed on the outside by CAVEDIVER and JAZZY SEATTLE on the outside. By the midway point, Skidmore Indy looked in complete control, and kicked away from the chasers. Just when Cavediver tried to remount a rally, that’s when Steno Book appeared on the scene, looking like a winner from the time she flashed onto the race viewer. All Skidmore Indy could do was dig in and hold on for second in front of Willyam’s THOTHMES III, who had to settle for show money.

The Grade 3 score bumps Steno Book up to No. 78 in the classic mare division.
