From virtual Churchill Downs the Elite Racing Club presents the Good Magic stakes. A field of nine two year old runners, including a quartet of upset minded fillies, will battle it out over 8.5 furlongs (or ~1700 meters for the metric folks) for the winner’s share of the $100,000 purse.

The “downs” boys have a strong hand in this race, as newfy’s COLLOPORTUS and dunn’s THORPEDO QUEEN are rated at the top of the entry point listing, and are the only Allowance race winners in this group – and are two of the four distaffers going to post. Winterset sends out our third rated filly, BELLE ETOILE, while dontbetonme has the top rated male in HENNY RIDE. Harrylan saddles TIME PLUS TIME and looks to have the 2025 club championship wrapped up with an imposing lead on the four time defending champ amir1747, who goes with our final filly, TIME PROGRAMMER. Summerset has MAGRELLO going to the post, and the field is rounded out by maidens JESUS IN THE AIR from jbcri09 and RICHIE STRIKER from the rucks stable.

Very fast miss likes the front end and could prove tough to catch if not pressured early for the newfydowns racing group. . . .

Bay stretch running Henny Hughes colt has made the exacta in all five career outings. HIs latest try was a fast closing 3rd in a NW2L allowance at seven panels. The handicapper likes his chances as the 5/1 third choice of the public on the tote board for the dontbetonme racing stables. .

Newish owner/trainer rucks tries the ERC wars again with this stretch running son of Essential Quality, who showed plenty of late foot last time over in an open maiden at a mile, getting his second in the money finish in three tries. Outside post doesn’t help this light grey colt, but he could get a piece of the purse with further improvement.
