THE NONETHORPE
Grade 1 Stakes – Purse $750,000
Restricted to 2 Year Olds
5 furlongs on Turf
Today we are in Surrey England for the running of the “The Nonethorpe”, a 5 furlong race on the turf for two-year olds. This race features a field of fourteen and presents some of the best “newbie” horses that the SIM has to offer. They will be competing for a purse of $750,000 and bragging rights. This is going to be a great race with lots of speed and it could come down to a photo finish at the wire.
Here is a closer look at the field:

This two year old SHOWCASING colt out of the Sim Mare QUEEN OF GOTHAM has finished in the money in all three of his career starts which have all come at Stakes races at this same distance. Last time out he went gate to wire and took home the win at the “G1 Norfellow Stakes” where he ran 80 speed and beat RS VOTE FOR ME by a quarter length. He should go off as one of the favorites and has a good chance of finding a spot on the board again here.

This two year old scratch bred BLACKBEARD (x GREEN DESERT x RAHY) colt has three wins in four career starts with the first coming at a TWITCH stream race where he ran 81 speed over a six furlong track. Last time out he made the jump to Grade 2 and went gate to wire at the “G2 Bobby Papin” in France just edging out BIEBER FEAVER by a half length. He has shown big speed in all of his starts and will likely go out front and could be hard to catch.

This two year old NIGHT OF THUNDER colt out of the Sim Mare RYANS STEPS broke his Maiden on April 18 in Norway when he ran 75 speed and went gate to wire over a six furlong track. He followed that up with a third place finish at the “Curlwaa Turf Juvenile” but returned to the winner’s circle last time out when he won the “Cocktails Turf Juvenile” at this same distance. He will face better competition here as he makes his first Graded Stakes start but should compete with this group of fourteen.

This two year old CHALDEAN colt out of the Sim Mare KEPLER GAIN AGAIN has finished in the money in three of his four career starts including two wins. He broke his Maiden in his debut and picked up his second win last time out at an Allowance Race at this distance where he ran 80 speed and beat WHO CAN TUCAN by less than a length.

This two year old scratch bred NO NAY NEVER (x DANEHILL x DEEP IMPACT) filly comes in HOT with back to back wins in Ireland with the most recent being a 79 speed six furlong win over RAH RAH HA HA. She will face the boys for the first time and will need a bump in speed if she hopes to keep the streak going.

This two year old LORD KANALOA colt out of the Sim Mare PROPER MAIDEN had a gate to wire win in his only race to date when he ran 81 speed over this same track and beat HALARAK by more than a length. He comes in off ten weeks rest and should be in the mix as he competes out of gate number twelve.

This two year old ULYSSES colt out of the Sim Mare SHAMWOW WOW broke his Maiden in his first start at the end of April when he blazed 85 speed at this same distance. He followed that up last time out with another five furlong win over WAXWING SIGHTING. The big speed numbers are hard to ignore and he should garner lots of attention at the betting windows.

This two year old scratch bred WALK IN THE PARK (x DANEHILL x SNITZEL) colt had a win at five and a half furlongs to start his career which came on the dirt and has followed that up with back to back runner-up finishes. Last time out he ran 81 speed and was unable to hold off winner FARNANTHEAGRARIAN. He will likely run off the pace in the early going and will need a late dash to get it done.

This two year old WOOTON BASSETT colt out of the Sim Mare SEEDS OF FAITH busted 84 speed in a gate to wire six and a half furlong win at his debut in Berkshire. He followed that up with similar speed last time out but dropped to fifth place at the “Devils Sky Turf Juvenile” against a field of fourteen. He will drop back in distance here and the ownership group is hoping he will respond well and maybe find a spot on the board here.

This two year old MEHMAS filly out of the Sim Mare MEZTLI NEW will male her sixth start in four and a half moths and her second straight Graded Stakes start. Last time out she faced the boys for the first time at the “G3 Cyborg” where she held the lead for most of the race before being run down and passed by four other horses including winner PRADO BLUES. She should like the drop in distance and should be well positioned as they come down the stretch.

This two year old NATHANIEL colt out of the Sim Mare NIKKI’S MAJOR has made just one start in his young career and had a 76 speed win over a six furlong track in Newmarket. He comes in well rested and will face stiff competition here and will need a big jump in speed if he hopes to find a spot on the board.

This two year old WORKFORCE colt out of the Sim Mare CAST A VOTE makes his third straight Graded Stakes starts with the other two resulting in a runner-up finish at the five furlong “G2 Norfellow Stakes” and a third place finish at the five and a half furlong “Bobby Papin”. His speed numbers have increased with each start and if that trend continues here he could jump to mid 80 speed which would see him have the highest speed in the race. He will be amongst the favorites in the race and could be posing in the winner’s circle when it is all said and done.

This two year old ANGEL BLEU colt out of the Sim Mare FRIGHTENING FRESCO has the most starts of any of the entries as he will make his seventh here. Four of those have come at Stakes Races with the past two resulting in a fourth place finish at the five furlong “G2 Norfellow Stakes” and a sixth place 82 speed finish at the “G3 Premie Champion Stakes”. He comes in on just three weeks rest and will need to improve on his trend of slow starts out of the gate if he hopes to keep up with the speed in the race.

This two year old SHAQUILLE colt out of the Sim Mare MALTOUN has finished in the money in both of his starts and comes in off a win at a five and a half furlong HOT race where he ran 70 speed and beat three CPU horses. He will face much better competition here and will need to top 80 plus speed if he hopes to be in the mix. Will go off as a long shot and is probably overmatched here.
With 9 of the 14 runners having shown they prefer to lead and go gate to wire, this is going to be a crazy charge to the turn.
Fingers crossed my Sneaky Greek can live up to his name and give the pack the slip at the 2 furlong pole and hang on for the win
