Well Gone(GB) Memorial
Welcome to Mexico, where the weather will be no problem, the track is in a fast and well prepared condition, 6 young 2yo fillies have come to contest the Well Done(GB) Memorial.
The race is run over 5.5f and we have a 6/5 favourite, let’s waste no time, and take a look at the nice young ladies….:
#1 UTOPITIA(NY) 5/1
http://www.simulatedsports.net/hr/runtime/prettyhorse.asp?hossnum=164969
4 Races – 2 Wins – 38,525$
The nice 2yo filly is by Japanese Sire Utopia out of Pulpit Dam, Utopia is a freshman sire, and already one of his progeny have won a stakes race, overall he has a 37 win%, her dam only won 4 out of 31 races, and was a relative late bloomer. Utopitia has won a ALW1x race last time out scoring with a 77 over 6.5f, she seems to enjoy very short trips, as her maiden was a 5.5f race, she then struggled with a 4th place in a 7 runner stakes race. She likes to be in the lead or stalk the pace, which she looked better at so far.
#2 ON THE WATCH(CAN) 6/1
http://www.simulatedsports.net/hr/runtime/prettyhorse.asp?hossnum=155264
7 Races – 2 Wins – 41,814$
She is by Weather Warning out of a Alysheba Mare, Weather Warning is another freshman sire, that has yet to produce a stakes winner, his win % is at 33, her Mare Alyreason won 3 out of 3 races, and scored on both dirt and turf, which her owner seemed to have projected for On the Watch. Well so far it looks like she is more of a dirt runner, as her two tries on turf have been very bad. Her lifetime high was a 76 over 7f dirt, when she came 3rd in an ALW 3 races back. Last time out she finished 4th and last in a 5.5f turf stakes race. This will be her second attempt at the stakes level, and she seems to prefer sprinting. Her Maiden win came over 4.5f already in february. She prefers to take the lead early, and needs to get that at a rather slow pace to come through.
#3 TALE OF A ANGEL(KY) 5/1
http://www.simulatedsports.net/hr/runtime/prettyhorse.asp?hossnum=165875
6 Races – 1 Win – 35,866$
The Roman Ruler filly just broke her maiden last time out in her 6th try, she scored with a 72 over 5.5f, and has never run longer distances. She is out of a Tale of the Cat Mare, who already produced stakes winner Belong to Angel. The Roman Ruler x Tale of the Cat cross already produced Graded winner Pope Mobile this season. But it looks tough for Tale of a Angel to repeat that performance, as she will need to improve a lot from her last races. The 72 really showed no potential for improvement that day, and repeated the speed of an 4th place effort two races ago. She’s another filly that likes to take the lead early and set the pace.
#4 KASH HAPPY(JPN) 3/1
http://www.simulatedsports.net/hr/runtime/prettyhorse.asp?hossnum=166991
4 Races – 2 Wins – 46,196$
Kash Happy is by Simboli Kris S x War Emblem Scratch Breeding, Simboli Kris S. is a famous Japanese Sire, already producing 3 Graded winners in 5 years of service, his best 2yo daughter is Graded winner Westmead kris, out of a Strike the Gold Dam. Kash happy produced a lifetime high 76 speed mark last time out over 4.5f, but on sloppy dirt, she scored her maiden in a 6f contest at Kenntucky with a 74. She still seems to have lots of room for improvement, and likes a slow early pace placing herself in the middle or just behind the pack.
She so far always ran in huger fields than this small 6 runner field.
#5 FLOWERWITHICE(KY) 7/1
http://www.simulatedsports.net/hr/runtime/prettyhorse.asp?hossnum=161191
7 Races – 2 Wins – 40,340$
The Flower Alley x Hennessy Scratch Bred has the biggest odds, and so is the outside shot, and if you look at her speeds in her last races, this comes at no surprise, after winning a 4.5f ALW NW2L race back in July she ran in 3 consecutive stakes races. With a 3rd place in the 7f Double Elk Stakes the best result, she’s another horse which likes to take the lead early, so i see her way outclassed. Her best speed so far is a 69 over 7f, but that only was good for a 5th place in a Stakes race. Flower Alley is a sophomore Sire already producing 2 Graded and 7 overall Stakes winners. Overall a tough race for the filly, which looks not being able to take the lead, and then likely drifting away.
#6 PRIMARY SHADES(TUR) 6/5
http://www.simulatedsports.net/hr/runtime/prettyhorse.asp?hossnum=164603
6 Races – 3 Wins – 89,350$
The 2yo Shining Steel x Raja Baba scratch bred is the only stakes winner in the field, and looks the clear cut favourite, she won the Quick Cap stakes over 6f with a classy 80 speed back in September, in her last two races she faced tougher fields and was overtaken on the stretch to finish 3rd and 4th over 7f, but with classy speeds of 86 and 81. She is another filly, that likes to dictate the speed, and take an early lead, with all the fillies that prefer such a running style, she is likely to get the lead with her fast classy pace, and then have only one challenger late in Kash Happy. Shining Steel is a veteran Sire, that has not had a Graded winner in his last 5 years. Perhaps Primary Shades one day can accomplish that, but for today, she is my pick by lengths, the others would need an off-day by her, or get a huge improvement.
