Blazing Saddles Breeders Showdown
When the idea of a Blazing Saddles Breeders Cup Residency Race was brought up on July 31st by our residency founder MTK76, no one could think of such a glorious day within just a few months. The whole residency supported the idea to not only have one race, but instead to create a full day of races. The idea of making open races to attract more outside residency horses was skipped, as Blazing Saddles wanted to crown its own champion. Within a few days credits from all over the place were donated, so that we could announce the idea of a full raceday on August 15th. By the end of the month, the week 3777 was chosen, and a list of 11 races compiled.
Lots of residents made their plans to take their best horses for a day of glory to Arizona, and show the best of the best in Blazing Saddles. As the weeks went along, more and more entries kept flying in, and for the short time that Blazing Saddles exists we were happy to have such a good turnout. Week 3777 started, and the fields kept filling up, our residency member Skunkbarn topped it off early, when he posted on our Racing Message Board:
“I cannot wait to annihilate the field in every race the Skunks enter. They may be bombs but they will be Skunk bombs! Beware the lethal nature of a Skunk bomb!“
Well as we know today Skunkbarn was one of the unluckiest members on Showdown day, winning not a single race, but collecting the prizehorse for :
Most BS Res Day ITM finishes WITHOUT a winner
Not really what he wanted. Speaking of prize horses and contests, a total of 10 prize horses have been given out by Blazing Saddles during the festival, and 2 contests had been held. A handicapping contest was won by Boble (yeah, thats me J) who won the tiebreaker vs. Kloie, who wanted the 2nd prize horse anyway. A W/P/S wagering contest was won by Goosetown.
The heros of the Blazing Saddles Raceday were Galileo and Meguire who each won 4 races. With a total of 12 races run, that left only 4 other winners, which was very impressive.
Another great feature was the private chat held by Blazing Saddles members on raceday. The chatters watched the races together, enjoying their great raceday.
