Blazzing Saddles Showdown: The Sprint

It’s the day of the days for the Blazzing Saddles Residents, the Breeders Showdown, first of all I want to welcome you all to sunny Arizona, the track is fast and ready for the Blazzing Saddles Residency Horses. In this article I want to give you a nice rundown to the Sprint event, taking place over 6f on the fast dirt. 9 Residents had the courage to sent their horses to the line, Galileo and Blazzing Saddles Founder mtk76 share joint favourites, but let’s look at the runners:

#1 YOU’RE DESPICABLE 7/1

http://www.simulatedsports.net/hr/runtime/prettyhorse.asp?hossnum=44874

Resident: Bluehorse

67 Races – 18 Wins – 390,278$

The 8yo Veteran Cryptoclearance Horse brings a lot of experience to the racetrack, he looks to get a little rusty in his old days, and seems not to have a lot of gas left in the tank sometimes. But 2 back he was all at it, firing a 104 over 5f. It seems he prefers the shorter trip these days, in his last 2 6f tries he failed to crack 100 and ended up 4th in ALW races. Will face a tough task today, he can either go for the lead, or stalk the leaders, so some versatility in him.

#2 LOUIS DANCING(IRE) 11/1

http://www.simulatedsports.net/hr/runtime/prettyhorse.asp?hossnum=162271

Resident: Kloie

8 Races – 2 Wins – 62,355$

The 3yo Danehill Dancer Colt is coming along slowly, he finally cracked the 100 2 races ago, and confirmed his 101 with a 102 last time out, both only good for 2nd places in ALW company. He improved a lot since switching to dirt, and seems to develop nicely, he likes to run near the leaders in the first half of the field, so the short 9 horse field should provide no troubles. Likely is a little overmatched, and may need a few more races to compete with the best in the residency, but don’t count him out yet.

#3 STORM THE CITY 13/1

http://www.simulatedsports.net/hr/runtime/prettyhorse.asp?hossnum=72564

Resident: Stylez

10 Races – 3 Wins – 60,851$

Stylez sents a lot of hope, with the lightly raced 5yo Speigthstown horse, who just had his coming out party last time out. After winning over 6.5f with a 101 the horse responded well and ran a 107 over 7f, sadly only good for a 3rd place in ALW company, but at the right time to get an entry into the Blazzing Saddles Showdown. It has to be seen, if he can confirm that form, and if he can repeat it over 6f, a trip he hasn’t run since the age of 2. He prefers to run from the end of the field, so grab your binoculars and watch for him to fly late on the stretch.

#4 NATURAL COUTURE(KY) 8/1

http://www.simulatedsports.net/hr/runtime/prettyhorse.asp?hossnum=148864

Resident: Pilgrim

11 Races – 3 Wins – 39,137$

Pilgrim brings another lightly raced horse with few experience, however the 3yo Lemon Drop Kid Colt has run 100+ speeds in his last 3 races, and is maturing nicely, and it seems dropping him back to 6f may do him good. His lifetime high came at 7f 3 races back with a 106, the last trip was a 8th place in an 8f stakes event, something he wants to avoid today. Like Storm the City he prefers to travel along at the end of the field early and is a slow starter. But to get it going in sprint races, he should get a much better start today.

#5 WILD SILVER SKUNK(KY) 9/2

http://www.simulatedsports.net/hr/runtime/prettyhorse.asp?hossnum=154797

Resident: Skunkbarn

10 Races – 5 Wins – 158,785$

The 3yo Silver Deputy colts is one of the weapons Skunkbarn is very proud of, he faced already a super tough challenge in the Equinics, when travelling into 8th place not really being able to produce his best racing. Today should be different, the 6f Stakes winner comes in on a 2 race winning streak a 7f and a 6.5f ALW race, he ran 100+ speeds in his last 5 races, all sprints. He really should be into the race early, he could take the lead, but also stalk a hot pace, don’t count out the secret weapons of skunkbombs, as skunkbarn is known for his residency trickery.

#6 DREAM ABOUT ME(KY) 3/1

http://www.simulatedsports.net/hr/runtime/prettyhorse.asp?hossnum=112726

Resident: MTK76

31 Races – 7 Wins – 84,295$

Residency Founder MTK76 brings a very experienced horse, with the 4yo Storm Cat colt, however Dream About me has been struggling recently, finishing 7th and 13th in recent Stakes tries, after a disappointing 7th place at the Equinics. It seems whatever speed he can find, with a lifetime high of 109 he finds, his opponents seem to do better. He last won a race back in May, when cracking a 6.5f ALW in a 108 speed mark. As he likes to run from behind, we now have the 3rd runner usually trailing the field, which may take a traffic jam at the end of the race, if the speedsters can’t get it on.

#7 VINGEANCE(KY) 3/1

http://www.simulatedsports.net/hr/runtime/prettyhorse.asp?hossnum=91285

Resident: Galileo

16 Races – 4 Wins – 163,317$

The 3yo Vindication Colt is the latest stakes threat by well known Galileo, he got his stakes win in April, but has been struggling a little since. His 110 last time out may be enough to win today, but in the 6f Stakes Event at italy Race track he was beaten into 2nd last month. He seems one of the most consistent entries in the race, with 5 races of 100+ in a row, and the question will be, if he can find some speed early,  as once again we have a horse, that usually starts out the race at the back end of the field.

#8 URBAN DYNAMO(KY) 12/1

http://www.simulatedsports.net/hr/runtime/prettyhorse.asp?hossnum=148932

Resident: Galloplaz

13 Races – 5 Wins – 42,719$

The 3yo Dynaformer colt sure isn’t the answer, about where the speed in this race will come from, as we have another backender, another question about him, is how he can sprint on the dirt, as his last 4 races all have been turf sprints, winning 2 STR and 1 ALW race with nice sub 100 speed marks. The biggest question mark in the field, seems to be on his way in turf sprints, but how will he fare on the dirt today?

#9 GREELEY HOLLOW(NY) 7/1

http://www.simulatedsports.net/hr/runtime/prettyhorse.asp?hossnum=83866

Resident: Meguire

18 Races – 4 Wins – 140,513$

Meguire brings the latest entrant, but no speed either, the 3yo Greeley’s Galaxy colt likes to trail the field early, and had been winning Stakes races earlier this season, even placing 2nd in a Grade 3 back in May. But the summer has been unpleasant to him, and his autumn campaign was forgetable, last time out he finished 4th in a 7f Stakes event, showing a slight upwards form, but it seems he likely needs a break, or has already run out of gas. Perhaps the Blazzing Saddles Showdown can breath some life back into the colt.

Overall I wonder, who will take the lead, if it is a slow paced race, look for Wild Silver Skunk to go for the lead early, and then trying to defend the late challenges of Dream about Me and Vingeance, as those three seem to be a little ahead of the others.
