9 Flying Runners in the Senior Robin Cap

This is the Senior Robin Cap Stakes over a mile 1/8 on what has been rated as a fast dirt track.  There is a purse of $60,000 for this one so 9 entries 3yo and up have been entered to try and grab that prize money for themselves.  And for their trainer. 🙂

The Stakes race today is named after Senior Robin who is out of Known Fact x Halo x Torsion.  Known fact produced a few Group winners and Senior Robin was no slouch running 80 races for 6 wins with all of those wins on the dirt.  80 races is a good career for a horse and Senior Robin is honoured here today with the naming of the Stakes race.

A 6yo here out of Summer Squall x Septieme Ciel x Halo with a very impressive career record.  16 wins and earnings over $2M bucks. This is a class horse coming to the end of his career but still running well.  His most recent win was in mid September over 10 furlongs in an Allowance race posting a speed of 107. Last time out was slower and finished 6th and well back in the Stupidly For Ralph Memorial stakes.  Can he get his speed and form that he can produce back for this one?

Out of Jade Hunter x Golden Missile x Danzig Connection which you can see where he gets his name from.  4yo Colt who is quite consistent certainly early in his career.  Bit out of sorts of late where he has run a good race then failed the next time out.  Last win was in the Baylee’s Dream Bonanza Stakes over 9 furlongs and a speed of 109.  He did fail last time out as I mentioned earlier so this one could be another good run going on his previous form which is up and down. If he’s on tune will figure in the final three.
 
3 WITCH TRIALS(KY)

This one looks very very good specially on an off track. 5 outings on an off track with never finishing worse than second. Id keep him on the off tracks always with that record.  Regardless this is not an off track so you have to consider how he will go. Last time out was a very good run in the G3 Trying To Take The Next Step over 9 furlongs where he was looking for more distance and finishing strongly.  Crossed in fourth place.  Likes to come from behind so if he starts his run early can figure here.
 
4 ATLANTIS KING(KY)

Out of Dixiland Band x Unbridled x Avatar has been posting some very good speeds of late including a top speed of 112 in the Explosive Fortress(IRE) Cap Stakes over 9 furlongs which resulted in a very good win for him. Needs to get to the front around the middle of the race to have any chance and then go on with it from there.   This is another one who has performed impeccably in the wet with 4 wins from 5 outings on an off track.  Id definitely be looking for those races for him from now on with that impressive record.

From Charismatic x Wild Again x Alydar has been running well lately.  Very consistent in his last three races with 1 win and 2 second places all at Allowance level.  This is a step up here though.  Last Stakes race and in fact his only Stakes race run to date was in the Bingo Hogan(IRE) Memorial over 9.5 furlongs where finished fifth with a speed of 106.  Distance no problem just the class might be…

Long shot of the race at 10/1 is from Dubai Destination x Cat Thief x Strike Gold. Has not run in a Stakes race recently. Last run at this level was way back in August of 2007 where he finished 7th over 7 furlongs.  However in saying that has been performing consistently at Allowance level and is coming off a win over 9 furlongs and a speed of 104.  Probably deserves his chance again at this level and will need to perform today. 

7 PERFECT POWER(IRE)

There are a few things in life which CAN guarantee you success. Money and the other is power.  This one has perfect power from Giant’s Causeway(IRE) x Pulpit x Unbridled.  Not only that but is coming off a very very good run of 3 wins at Allowance level.  All over 9 furlongs has been getting better with each run with his last one with a speed of 109 trouncing his closest rival by over 5 lengths.  Now that folks is a solid win. Can he step up here though?  First run at this level. I think he can – my pick for the race and good odds at 6/1.

What a name!!!! Red hot and rockin. Love it.  From Unbridled’s Song x Tabasco Cat x Halo is going to have to be red hot to win against these ones. Has the results too though.  Last time out was a failure in the G1 Breeders Bowl Distaff over 9 furlongs finishing last. Prior run though was a beauty over 9.5 furlongs in the G1 Gracie Law Distaff, speed of 106 and winning by over 2 lengths. Reproduce that run here and could be up there and winning.

From Smart Strike x Sunday Silence x Sir Ivor has not been getting the results lately.  Has run in some big races including G3, G2 and G1 but his last win was back in April in an Allowance. Been posting good speeds in excess of 100 but just not finishing the race off.  Id throw him at a race on an off track as he has never run on that – be interesting just to see how he runs.  Anyway Id go past this one for today.
