Return of the Glue Factory Special
Several years ago I had the amusing idea. To have a race where the worst horses in this game had a chance to race for big money to see who was the best of the worst and more importantly the worst of the worst. The result was “The Glue Factory Special.” You can see the 2001 results here.
While I considered the results overall successful, there were certain aspects that were less than fulfilling. There were too many horses in the field who had already won a races beforehand which defeated the purpose of the event. I haven’t run another trying to think of a fair way to redo the event. Well I think I’ve come up with the right way to do this, so “The Glue Factory Special” has returned.
The event will take place in Nevada on the last weekend of the year (3812). There will be two races. One for males, the other for females. They will be racing 8 furlongs (1 mile) on dirt.
The race is open to 20 horses in each race, all maidens 4 years old or older. They will be running for a claiming price of $2,000. The purse for each race will be $250,000 which means the winners will get $$150,000. Not to mention pretty good parts of the purse if you get close.
So if you have a horse with no wins but you think they’re still pretty good. Or if you want to find out if your horse is the “worst of the worst” then give this race a shot. If it goes well I’ll do it again next year with races in both dirt AND turf. In addition I might even add a similiar “Special” internationally.
So come one, come all, to the “Glue Factory Special”!
