Breeders Bowl F & M Turf Recap

Breeders Bowl Turf Distaff

CA G1, 3yo+ F 11F Turf

What a race! We came to name a new queen of the turf and man did we ever get one. The blistering early pace set it up for the late runners and the one coming best at the end was Dixiedotcom’s Mon Coup who did indeed have Coup de Grace prepared, her sizzling stretch run was just enough to end True Dream’s dream and made quite a financial impact on Financial Impact. The top three were well ahead of the rest of the field by the wire. Here is a quick look back on how this historic race unfolded/

PP 1 DESERT ALLEY(ENG) TR lenny25 JKY W McClendon 17/1

This 4 year old daughter of GREEN DESERT x BROAD BRUSH x ALYDAR broke poorly and never got into the race. She started last and finished there. This time the girl with the curl was not very good.

PP 2 DAY OF TRIUMPH(AUS) TR scootboy H Harzheim 23/1

The three year old daughter of ELVSTROEM (AUS) x MANILA x SADLER’S WELLS pursued the pace early, but the winner of Sydney and English Oaks faded early and would up 13^th.

PP 3 MON COUP(IRE) TR lasthope1 JKY B Ball 8/1

The 4 year old daughter of MONTJEU (IRE) x KINGMAMBO x SEATTLE SLEW was born to run all day and she proved on Saturday that she was up to the task. She laid off the pace early, dropping as far as 7 off the leaders when she uncorked her best run run she picked them off one by one until she exploded in the stretch leaving them all in her wake. The win took her career earnings over 2 million dollars and she is the winner of 13 of her 26 starts. What a Coup!!!!!!

PP 4 FLAMMEN SEHEN(GER) Tr reacher P Harzheim 10/1

The daughter of MONSUN(GER) x IN THE WINGS(GB) x SHIRLEY HEIGHTS(GB) did not have it today. While on paper it looked like she was ready. Perhaps the older girls were just too much. Another who stayed back off the pace early but when P Harzheim asked her for her run the call went unanswered. Finished 9^th.

PP 5 TRUE DREAM Tr kevoman2 N Lawton 13/1

The 5 year old daughter of SADLER’S WELLS x NIJINSKY II x LYPHARD has been close oh so close but still is only graded placed despite another stirring run. She turned in a new career best spf of 113 and in the shadow of the wire looked like a winner. Unfortunately for True Dream, Mon Coup had an even bigger final punch. Lawton gave her a text book ride that was good enough for second in this dynamite field. The place finish boosted her career total to just under 1.4 million dollars in 35 starts.

PP 6 CAVALIER CHANT(KY) Tr  aggots JKY K Ledwith 23/1

The 3 year old daughter of WAR CHANT x KINGMAMBO x CAERLEON stalked the early leaders. The pace was steamy and it left her without a finishing kick. She faded at the third call and wound up twelfth.

PP 7 WICKED WENCH(IRE) Tr tesio JKY D Givins 10/1

The 5 year old daughter of MONTJEU (IRE) x BLUSHING GROOM(FR) x NUREYEV had the kind of pace flexibility that should have been a big asset to D Givens. Givens may have kept her a touch to close to the burning pace and at the third call she swept to the lead. Alas in the stretch she was missing that final burst needed to hold off the top 3 and had to settle for 4^th. The 110 spf is certainly nothing to be ashamed of. A really good effort.

PP 8 FINANCIAL IMPACT(JPN) TR okiedokie JKY B F Abman 12/1

This three year old mare out of DEEP IMPACT x DEPUTY MINISTER x BUCKPASSER was a bit a newcomer to the scene with only 11 lifetime starts. After Saturday’s gripping run she is a name that every female in the division will be wary of. She was rated beautifully and looked a winner for a moment before the top two ran her down. Of all the younger horses in the race, her third place finish was best. Her 112 spf was a career high by a lot. Her connections have to be pretty proud of this young gal.

PP 9 JENA BERLIN(JPN) Tr astinator5 JKY B Schardein  7/2

The morning line favorite was this 4 year old KING KAMEHAMEHA(JPN) x DANEHILL x TURN-TO. She had been sensational this year and loomed the one to beat. She had run spf’s high enough to be involved her but she never fired. Seemingly in a striking spot, when the real running began she had no answers and faded to 6^th beaten 6 lengths. It was a great season for Jena, just not her day.

PP 10 SAKE(KY) TR 2tohold JKY T Loesch 12/1

The three year old daughter of DYNAFORMER x DANZIG x ALYDAR looked on form but when she reached down for the big kick all she found was enough to stay relatively even. She went by tired ones and was passed by the best of the closers. Her 109 spf was good for fifth place. A very fine effort.

PP 11 KEPLER OF RAINBOW(ENG) Tr bobo D Evans 8/1

The 4 year old RAINBOW QUEST x SADLER’S WELLS x RED RANSOM made her 17^th start of the season. She chased the early pace and perhaps it was too hot for her. The hard knocking filly had no gas left and faded to 10^th beaten 19 lengths.

PP 12 SILIANE(IRE) Tr planoaxius JKYP Bangs 7/1

The daughter of MANNDAR (IRE) x STRAVINSKY x JADE HUNTER had only one win this season coming in and still does. She set a steamy pace for everyone to chase but never was left alone enough to settle out front. At the third call the marauding mass of closers asked her if she had any more but unfortunately her answer was no. 103 spf and a 7^th place finish.

PP 13 TEARAWAY(FR) Tr cooldude JKY J Stivers  8/1

This TREMPOLINO x CAERLEON x KEY TO THE MINT was perhaps the hottest 4 year old mare in the field. She came in off 4 straight wins. Perhaps a bit compromised by her outside post she never really found the position she was looking for and faded 11^th.

14 PELENNOR FIELDS(KY) Tr stormboot2 F Gossett 17/1

The 3 year old ARAGORN (IRE) x GALILEO (IRE) x NIJINSKY II had her work cut out for her here. An outside post left her to choose to gun for the top or drop back and save ground. She made it over the top and pressed Siliane mercilessly. All the pressure did not help her chances either. She finished 8^th.
