1st. race: SCATO NINE LIFES, Trained by ARGO7591
2nd. race: GRAND COMIC PATH, Trained by FOXON
3rd. race: STAR OF SEPOY, Trained by MICHAELB
4th. race: MASTER BLUE SKY Trained by KIMUGLE
12 Horses go to the starting gate to take on this gruelling 2 mile (16 furlong) race.
So who will take the glory in the 5th race?
Gate 1:
SLINGING AMERICAIN ( AMERICAIN x FASTNET ROCK (AUS) x KITTEN’S JOY)
Trained by: FOXON
4yrs gelding.
Record: 12: 3 2 2
Last race from this horse was an Allow. NW4L at Newmarket, England over 12 furlongs where he ran 2nd in a 101 speed. He has raced over 16f 6 times with 5 of them on dirt and 1 turf. In his turf race he finished 6th 9,5 lengths behind the winner in a 94 speed. His best 16f speed was on dirt where he managed a speed of 100. Personally Ithink he will do best 10-12f, so this race may be too long for him.
Gate 2:
BABY KAMEHAMEHA ( JUST A WAY x KING KAMEHAMEHA x EL PRADO)
Trained by KIMUGLE
4yrs colt
Record: 9: 3 0 1
Last race out was a 10 furlong turf stakes in Queensland, Australia, so stays on same track. He finished 5th in the race with a speed 109. He has had one start on 16f turf before, where he ran 3rd in a speed of 92. Personally I think he will be bast at 10-14f, so 16f might prove too long for him.
Gate 3:
CASINO TYCOON LV ( WRITTEN TYCOON (AUS) x TAVISTOCK (NZ) x MONSUN)
Trained by: ACARIGUA
5yrs gelding
Record: 28: 3 4 7
Last race out was a 10f turf allow NW2s in Queensland, Australia, so one more horse staying on the same track. He finished 8th in that race 10 lengths behind the winner. He has never raced longer than 12f, but his pedigree. says he could maybe cope with the 16f.
Gate 4:
CHEERS MATE ( AUSTRALIA x DYNASTY (SAF) x GHOSTZAPPER)
Trained by: JWEST44
6yrs gelding
Record: 29: 9 7 2
Last race out was a 12f turf 150k claim race in Spain. He finished with a nice win. In a 110 speed. This horse has never raced longer than 13f, but he might have the distance in him.
Gate 5:
ST. LUCIAN SUN ( THE AUTUMN SUN (AUS) x KINGMAMBO x SEATTLE SLEW)
Trained by: ARGO7591
5yrs gelding
Record: 15: 7 4 1
Last race out was a 13f starter allow. on turf. He finished in 2nd place 2,5l behind the winner in a 103 speed. The 13f is the longest he has run so far in his career. Again a horse that might go the full distance.
Gate 6:
MR GOLD ENGLISH ( AUSTRALIA x ENGLISH CHANNEL x BROAD BRUSH)
Trained by: 3DDDZ
5yrs male horse
Record: 20: 4 4 3
Last race out was a 10,5 furlong turf open allowance, in Paris, France. He finished 3rd in the race just 1,75 lengths behind the winner, in a 108 speed. His only attempt over the race distance of 16f was last years DUR Melbourne Cup, where he finished 5th 22l behind the winner. I have my doubts that he can manage the 16f. and believe he is more suited for 10-12f.
Gate 7:
DRAGONARA ( TIZ THE LAW x SEA THE STARS x MONTJEU)
Trained by: WOETTE1
4yrs colt
Record: 14: 4 3 3
Last race out was a 10f stakes on turf, in Minnesota, USA. He finished 3rd in the race 3,5l behind the winner with a competitive 113 Speed. I am not sure this horse wants to go longer than 12f. So I think 16 furlong may be a tad long for him.
Gate 8:
TAVISJORDUR ( TAVISTOCK (NZ) x STREET CRY x MARK OF ESTEEM)
Trained by: VEEMAN
6yrs mare
Record: 31: 15 4 2
Last race out was a 7,5k claim race in South Africa. She finished 2nd place 1,75l behind the winner. In a 97 speed. I doubt think this horse can handle more than 13f .
Gate 9:
TELL ME WHO I AM ( BARNEY ROY (GB) x DUBAWI (IRE) x SADLER’S WELLS)
Trained by: MICHAELB
7yrs gelding
Record: 34: 9 7 5
Last race was a 20k claim race in England. He finished with a very nice win with a 104 speed. He surely has the stamina to run the 16f, but I think he may have lost some power due to ageing.
Gate 10:
DEEP BONELIGHT ( EARTHLIGHT (IRE) x DEEP IMPACT x FRANKEL (GB))
Trained by: KSPARROW
5yrs gelding
Record: 25: 8 4 1
Last race out was the DUR Sydney Cup16f turf stakes, where he won, in speed 100. Prior to that win his previous start was also a win in the DUR 2023 Melbourne Cup in a 105 speed.
His trainer has set this horse to go for the Bonus Prizes on offer for winning 2 or 3 of the Major DUR Cups races in a single Calendar Year.
Gate 11:
APPROACH HAVRE ( LE HAVRE (IRE) x DAWN APPROACH (IRE) x GIANT’S CAUSEWAY)
Trained by: SELURNIVEK
4yrs colt
Record: 15: 5 2 1
Last race out was a 10f turf stakes race in New South Wales, Australia, with a very nice win. speed 115. Longest this horse has raced is 12f and it did not like it. so this race migth prove to be way too long for him.
Gate 12:
FORGS BALBAR ( BALLADO’S GOLD x BARNEY ROY (GB) x SECRET CLAIM)
5yrs gelding
Trained by: DINGO333
Record: 27: 11 6 5
Last race out was 16f turf stakes, in the DUR Sydney Cup,where he finished 3rd 4l behind the winner DEEP BONELIGHT. His previous 2 starts were claimer wins over the 16 furlong trip (best SP was 103).
Must be considered a chance
This race will be Streamed live in the during the DOWN UNDER RACING EQUINICS special live stream saturday on the Res’s discord channel
Good luck to all trainers
But remember dont beat my f#*%ing horses 🙂
Great write up Kim. I think it’s Cheers Mate or Deep Bonelight for the win!
