ALL IN A GLORY

2yo Fillies Stakes race at Newmarket, middle of October, turf over a mile. You might normally hope to see a Guineas hopeful or two amongst them given the great opportunity to test your filly over the same course and distance of the 3yo Classic. And all though there are some nice fillies engaged this weekend, to this stage, none of them have shown the necessary talent to be rated a chance come the Spring in that race. In saying that, there are some talented fillies in the field that are open to a lot of improvement, and it is a very difficult race to assess because some of the main hopes are unexposed form-wise.

1- STONERS OWNS TEXAS- Fitzgerald made a pretty good decision to purchase this filly for $2,689,990 at the auction 3-4 mths ago. With such wonderful pedigree it’s surprises me that she was sold after a fair enough debut over an unsuitable distance. She quickly shook off her maiden status with a powerful win in Ireland last start, with the obvious improvement she’ll take out of that and the added distance, she is a major player.

2- PLATINUM HALL- Out of a Australian bred brother to Redoute’s Choice, this filly has kick-started her career in good fashion. She has won 1, and been placed 3 of 4 so far and with a nice draw, she should play a part.

3- ZAMAMBO- Daughter of Kingmambo that has won 1 of 4. Stakes placed at her 3rd start, she disappointed in a Group 2 last start over this distance but improvement is need on what she’s shown so far.

4- BLUSH TO INDULGE- Classically bred filly by Generous that has finished in the first 2 of each of her 4 starts, winning 2. Progressed from maiden to allowance company with a strong win on a rain affected track last time out, and I regard her as a strong chance. She may also be worth following over more ground as a 3yo.

5- DISPARATE IMPACTS- Daughter of Deep Impact that has already achieved black type status with a 6f stakes run 2 starts back. Out of the multiple stakes winning mare SEATTLE TWO STEP, she boasts strong claims to this event and I’m prepared to forgive her for the failure on a wet track last start as the filly she beat at stakes the level the time prior, has franked the form in stakes events subsequently.

6- BECCA’S NORWESTER- Well bred filly by North Light who broke maiden status last start in only moderate time. Despite that she looks open to plenty of improvement, and given the way she hit the line last start, I rate her a filly with a good future. Could be a real dark horse.

7- KEPLER LORIAN- What a wonderful producer the dam of this filly has been. MOLDY BUBBA has thrown 3 stakes horses from only 4 offspring. They have all been horses that have excelled over shorter distances than this, and given the testing nature of Newmarket, I suspect she will struggle in this.

8- SELL HIGH- This filly has been pretty consistent in her 5 starts to date, only missing a hole for the first time in her last effort on the dirt. Don’t think she has the necessary class to trouble these, and she needs easier.

9- SISSON’S ZAMINDAR- With a record of 3 from 5 including a stakes win and 2 placings, this daughter of Zamindar looks a major player. I have reservations about her at the distance however, and the form around her last win at stakes level is not overly strong. Good chance, but I’m happy to lay her here.

Tough race but pushed for a tip, Im banking on BECCA’S NORWESTER continuing to improve at the 7-1 on offer. I think BLUSH TO INDULGE, STONERS OWNS TEXAS, PLATINUM HALL and DISPARATE IMPACTS are all major players.
