Sim Magic – The Breeders Bowl Preview
Sim Magic – Breeders Bowl
It’s one special day in the sim, Breeders Bowl Day, and it’s less than 3 weeks away, so today I wanna use Sim Magic to take a flash back to last year, 2007. The Breeders Bowl took place Week 3385 in New Jersey, 11 Main Races had been scheduled and brought 11 different winners, all of them crowned Champions of the Sim. Today I wanna use Sim Magic to see how some of these Sim Champions handled their racing careers afterwards, let’s see how 2008 has been to the 2007 Breeders Bowl Winners.
Let’s start off with the most important of them all, the Breeders Bowl Classic:
Solar Song was all Game, and won with a 118 ahead of Awegustus and Otto Causes, the 6yo Deputy Minister Horse now has the following Stats:
49 Races – 21 Wins – 16,366,150$
But it was a tough 2008 for him, after the Breeders Bowl he continued his winning ways, with a Stakes win at Wisconsin and another Grade 1 Win, in the Topicount Special in late December.
His connections decided to bring him back to the racetrack as a 6yo, and he rewarded them early on with nice results, topped by 2nd place finished in the Grade 1 Sand Castle Classic and the Grade 1 Maryland Special Handicap, but he was denied another Grade 1 win as a 6yo. He then started to slowly move backwards in his track results, in the Smackdown Race over 10f he finished 5th, and in the Equinics he was moved to the Marathon and feded to 11th, his last race the Bob Woodward Memorial brought a very dissapointing 10th place.
It looks he has lost a step, he’s still ranked 2nd among dirt routers, and if he chooses to take another shot at the 2008 Breeders Bowl Classic, he won’t be denied the entry.
Next up the Breeders Bowl Turf:
Lex Luthor ran a 111 and scored ahead of Ottoman Turks and Horseshoe Bay.
The now 5yo Empire Maker Horse stands at:
36 Races – 19 Wins – 7,512,166$
He finished 2007 with a win in a Stakes Race and a 4th Place in the Grade 1 Allied Assault Handicap.
He then started 2008 on a way easier route, winning 2 Stakes Races over 10 and 13f, which indeed have been his last wins for the year. The big race, the Sand Castle Golden Turf saw him finish 11th, via a surface switch and Stakes Races he prepped for the Equinics. But in the 13f Race he was taken the lead on the stretch and finished 3rd, still a classy result, but no win, his last Stakes event saw an even worser 4th place. Like the Classic winner, it looks like he lost a step, but I wouldn’t count him out, come Breeders Bowl Day, where he finished 2nd in 2006 and 1st in 2007.
The Breeders Bowl Distaff:
Sweet Sister Mercy won ahead of Otto History and Arawaza, she is a now 5yo Kingmambo Mare:
33 Races – 10 Wins – 2,486,500$
Like for her male counterparts 2008 hasn’t all been good for her, but she is still among the Elite older Dirt Routers, Ranked 2nd in her division. She finished 2007 with a 13th and a 9th place, and it looked like the 4yo had run out of gas, however, she turned 5 and returned to winning ways, going for the Grade 1 Orange Blossom and the Grade 2 Painful Thorn Stakes, to round out her Spring Campaign. The Summer, however, saw her struggle, a 3rd Place in the Smackdown Event and a 6th at the Equinics was not as good as could be expected of this superhorse, but she presented herself in Breeders Bowl Form, when finishing 3rd in the Superfilly Handicap, with a nice 110, it has to be seen, if she can keep the challenge of the 3yo and 4yo fillies, but she still seems to be game.
The Breeders Bowl Turf Distaff:
Magical Mia ran a 115 to beat Nerf Herder and Kneel Before Zod, she is a 6yo Giant’s Causeway Mare, and to all race watchers disappointment was retired 2 weeks ago, she finished her career at:
42 Races – 22 Wins – 3,062,288$

After the Breeders Bowl Turf Distaff she won the One for Momma Stakes over the Marathon Distance of 2 Miles, her year 2008 didn’t look really bad at first, she won a Stakes Race and finsihed 2nd in a Grade 2 in July, she was all Game, and expectations had been high for the Equinics, but the 14f Female race really didn’t work to her liking, she faded into 10th, and it could be seen she really lost a big step. She was then cut back in distance to give her new life, but over 11f she finsihed 5th in a Grade 2 at Japan racetrack, and her owner wanted her more to give life to a new racehorse, than remain active, she met Kingmambo and foaled Majestic Mia, let’s see if she can match her Mothers track record.
The Breeders Bowl Sprint:
Tired Wings scored with a 115 ahead of In a Simple Rhyme and Wonderboy DJ, the now 4yo Pollard’s Vision Mare was a huge Outside Shot at odds of 15:1, she now stands at:
21 Races – 10 Wins – 2,074,145$
The filly was the Big Shocker at the Breeders Bowl last year, it was almost obvious she couldn’t keep up with the Boys in 2008, but what she produced on the track was a lot worse than expected, her only win came in a 6f Stakes Race in Spain, and she never even attempted a Grade 1, after running 3rd in the DPCD championships in December 2007. She failed in 4 Graded Races (Grade 2 and 3) badly finishing out of the money in every Race. It has to be seen, if perhaps a Return to the Breeders Bowl can give her new life, if she is even entered, which I doubt by looking at her 2008 Racing Programm.
This have been 5 out of 11 Champions, next week Sim magic will continue with more Breeders Bowl Insigths.
