A Race Revalued (Written by Bobilo)

Article Written by Bobilo.

For richgins, thanks for your inspiration

On September, 6th in 2003 or in sim terminology week 1873 seven rather well bred 2yo fillies met in Newmarket to compete over a mile in an ordinary allowance race for NW3L on the yielding turf course. As of today all but one of them are retired mares.

I. Where they came from. Pedigrees. Stables. Residencies(as of today).

II. How they looked like before the race. Forms.

Experience: all horses have had between at least 2 and up to 6 previous starts.

TIPPYTOE TONI G: Although a maiden winner and already stakes placed, she came with the bad form of a 9th place finish on dirt in her last outing.

MOGUER: Maiden winner in her first start, injured in the following race the Frank Zappa Yellow Shark Special Allowance in April 2003, where she finished a last 14th of 14 on dirt with a Speed Figure of only 32. The less experienced filly that day in September with only 2 previous starts, came back from 5 months(!) off.

Who said: “Patience is the key”?

The next 3 horses were all trying to make it 3 wins a row. They all won a MSW and an allowance in her last 2 outings:

A POEM FOR BECKY: The favorite. Won turf route with Speed Figure of 89 in her previous start.

RIPPER’S GIRL: Was always in the money.

TATE’S CAT: Most experience, 7th start. A 3rd place on dirt debut, switched to turf and was always 1st or 2nd then.

The last 2 expected their 4th start. Both won for the first time in her careers in the race before, so they tried to make it 2 in a row:

NANE HOLLANDIA: Allowance winner last outing. Was always in the money.

BLOATED BELLY: Won MSW 8 furlongs but on dirt in the previous start. Was always in the money.

III: The race. Result.

IV. What the near future brought along. The following starts. KINGAB’s leading role.

TIPPYTOE TONI G: Won her next 2 races, both stakes!

MOGUER: 2nd place in the KINGAB SALUTES VERMONT STAKES, and the next but one start saw her winning her first stakes!

A POEM FOR BECKY: Went on to win 3 in a row. 2 stakes, one of them the KINGAB SALUTES IRELAND STAKES, then even took the next step being successful in a Grade3!

RIPPER’S GIRL: 3rd place finish and afterwards winner of the KINGAB Allowance.

TATE’S CAT: Stakes winner next start, followed by 3 times 2nd place in stakes and then gained 2 stakes win in a row!

NANE HOLLANDIA: Only stakes win of her career in her next entry, and 2nd place in stakes in her next but one!

BLOATED BELLY: next race 6th, followed by a 2nd place thereafter.

This fillies combined 4 stakes wins, 1 stakes place and 1 allowance place in their following starts.

And I count 3 more stakes wins, 2 stakes placing, 1 allowance win and 1 allowance place in the next but one races.

Special thanks has to go to Kingab for sponsoring the mentioned namely races above.

V. Long term. Careers.

TIPPYTOE TONI G: 4 stakes wins, 10 times placed in stakes.

MOGUER: At the age of 3 winner of lool Oaks Grade 1, 3rd Bluegrass Oaks and 5th Black Middle Flower. At 4 my girl won the My Girl Handicap Grade 1. Furthermore 3 graded placing, 8 stakes placing and 10 stakes wins. Millionaire. Only one still active.

A POEM FOR BECKY: 2 graded wins, 3 graded placing, 6 stakes win and 14 stakes placing.

RIPPER’S GIRL: 5th in her only stakes start at 4.

TATE’S CAT: 3 stakes wins, 6 stakes placing.

NANE HOLLANDIA: 1 stakes win, 4 stakes placing. Retired age 3. Owner seems to be a little impatient. Her 2yo offspring 2008 is also already retired.

BLOATED BELLY: Only one of those seven fillies, who never raced in stakes!

In conclusion: Those seven fillies accumulated together over 3.1 millions $ in earnings, 2 G1 wins(+1placing), 2 more graded wins(+6placing) and 24 stakes wins(+42placing). Each one of them earned more than 100.000 $ and none ever raced in a claiming race.
