1 RAIN LOVER(IRE)
Owner: shamran5
Record: 31-4-3-6
Earnings: $107,900
Jockey: C Bailey
Odds: 15/1
This 4yo mare out of Daylami(IRE) is in good form having finished in third place over 9.5 furlongs in The Action Maria(IRE) Special stakes race with a speed rating of 97 in her last race. Coming from the rear of the field she closed fast and just needed more distance in the end. Should like it here today but is also up in class so will need to find some extra speed to take it out you would think. Still a possibility if she performs better than her best.
2 ALPINE WINGS(IRE)
Owner: foxon4
Record: 24-10-5-3
Earnings: $377,384
Jockey: R Owen
Odds: 5/2
Favourite of the race on the tote and rightly so. She definitely has wings as her last race suggests with a speed rating of 110 in her win in The Forest Hannah(GB) Memorial stakes race in September. 4yo out of Azamour(IRE) this gal can run. 10 wins from her 24 outings and a significant money total in the bank. Likes the distance and hard to go past really. Will win if she runs like her last time out.
3 K’S KACHET
Owner: vertigo2
Record: 37-14-8-5
Earnings: $584,788
Jockey: L Fontain
Odds: 5/1
K’s Katchet is a 6yo out of Pine Bluff and trained by vertigo2. Running second to Alpine Wings in The Forest Hannah(GB) Memorial stakes with a speed of 108, she made up some amazing ground. Coming from 20 lengths behind at one stage in the race to finish only 2 lengths behind in 2nd place. So this gal can run and run fast. Jockey will need to keep her up with the leaders when she can then blow them away with her fast finishing speed. Exciting runner this one and could push for the win. Well worth backing.
4 EXCLAMATION MARK(IRE)
Owner: serpent
Record: 16-4-6-1
Earnings: $153,925
Jockey: B Philp
Odds: 12/1
Well blow me away – this one has some big names in her bloodlines with the likes of Sadler’s Wells, Kingmambo and A.P. Indy. Has had some reasonable form of late with a nice win in an Allowance race of 12 furlongs in July followed by two second place finishers both at Stakes level of 16 and 14 furlongs respectively. Is a bit off the pace though against some of these and I fear may struggle a little if she can’t find a step up in speed to compete here today. Fair odds but will need a fantastic run.
5 GAI(KY)
Owner: tulloch
Record: 21-4-2-4
Earnings: $238,980
Jockey: G Stepnoski
Odds: 6/1
Last few runs has been failing to make the distance even though running decent speed ratings at the same time. Prior to this was running well including a win in The Viva Vitesse Stakes over 11 furlongs back in April. Needs to find the form again but is looking like she may well struggle again here today. Odds should probably be out a little based on that. Needs a good start and run well throughout the race. Pace yourself girl, you can do it.
6 BEATBOXER
Owner: bombfly
Record: 24-8-5-5
Earnings: $270,075
Jockey: Te Johnson
Odds: 9/2
One of the favourites here is in good form after some great runs in higher class races such as the G1 Yolkshire Oaks where she finished third across the line over 10 furlongs. Prior to that was a fifth place in the G2 Empire State Cap with a speed rating of 100. She has won previously over 10 furlongs and is looking stretched at that distance particularly of late but that may just be a form factor. Could still challenge here.
7 LIGHT OF DECEIT(IRE)
Owner: serpent
Record: 25-6-4-5
Earnings: $185,566
Jockey: D Perkins
Odds: 8/1
4yo mare out of North Light(IRE), 6 wins in 24 outings is not a bad record at all. Had an impressive run in The CAR A.P. Memorial stakes back in May over 12 furlongs with a speed rating of 108 and first across the line by 4 1/2 lengths. Last two runs have been ok as far as finishings are concerned with a second and third placing but the speeds have been down significantly. Good odds of 8/1 if she can reproduce that one magic run a while back. Will need it here too – could well challenge.
8 SATIN SMOOTH
Owner: farm304
Record: 23-11-3-3
Earnings: $504,285
Jockey: P Bangs
Odds: 8/1
Satin smooth and she knows it, the way she walks and prances around the other mares. Out of Smarty Jones and with an impressive race record to boot. Had four good straight wins in the early part of this year including a G2 to her belt in The Across The Pond Stakes. Looks like she may be coming back into form after struggling a little back in March. Had a long lay off till July and since then has finished third and second respectively. Odds of 8/1 do her justice and if stepping up in form could surprise here.
9 OTTO PLATINUM
Owner:verona
Record: 28-12-5-4
Earnings: $656,144
Jockey: R Dowell
Odds: 9/2
Consistency for you with this mare. Class as well. Earnings over $650k with 12 wins from 28 starts. And some good runs as well including a second place finish in the G2 Hannah Barbera Cap back in April and a third place finish in the G1 Brisbane Distaff over 12 furlongs. Coming off a well run second place finish in the Kenabar River(FR) Stakes is in good form and looking to take another win here as one of the favoured runners according to the tote. Well worth backing – could easily win. Big big chance!
I like a few of these but the ones I think will be finishing in the placings are:
9 OTTO PLATINUM
3 K’S KACHET
2 ALPINE WINGS(IRE)
