The Reflections Stakes

Pleased to be back as the Beat Reporter here again after some time away yet again due to real life changing homes and jobs interstate. Nevertheless am back and ready to comment each week on the Queensland Stakes runners and looking forward to seeing both champions and losers as they try their luck here.  Back to this weeks race, The Reflections Stakes is over 6 1/2 furlongs for a purse of $55,000.  3yo’s and up will be trying their luck here on what is a firm turf track.  To the runners and what is the best bet for the punters???

1. HUNTING FOR LIMES(KY) – Trained by demon123 – Odds of 7/1
Hunting for Limes.  Good name although Ive never actually done it – hunted for limes that is.  Out of Limehouse which probably accounts for the name – wild guess I know! Anyway classy colt which can run.  Earnings of over $140k and good recent form.  Last time out failed at G2 level so dropping back here wont hurt at all.  Prior to that had a great win in The Northern Victor E Memorial Stakes level.  When he wins he comes from behind so look for the run late.  He will be closing!

2. COUNT ZIMZAM(AUS)  – Trained by zimzam  – Odds of 12/1
Has been zimming and zamming in his last two races with 2 impressive wins both at Stakes level.  Likes to come from behind and finish with a flurry in the straight. Earnings of over $220k. Local Queensland trainer under the Hawkz Racing Inc. stables so knows the track and knows what he has to do to take this out. And of course its a real deal Aussie bred horse. What else do you want? Real chance if he gets a good run and fantastic odds if he comes in. Well worth backing each way.  Interestingly has never been tried on dirt – wonder if he is faster or slower if given the chance?

3. LEOGOLD(IRE)  – Trained by zjkj2 – Odds of 8/1
If you discount his last two runs, this colt would have to be close to the favourite.May well be on the up again in form and that has to be what the trainer is thinking and hoping for. Looks like this may be a preferred distance too after being tried at 11 furlongs and that was certainly too long.  Get that speed back to over 100 and may well be finishing first.

4. THE ONE TOO – Trained by brasco35 – Odds of 21/1
Roughie of the race at 21/1 odds.  Out of Polish Love and trained by brasco35. Had some really good runs in allowance company back in the beginning of the year but hasnt really performed of late.  Last run out was somewhat encouraging again at allowance level but jumping up again here in class will need to really perform.  Not one that I fancy but as all punters know that means nothing.  Needs a very good run though.

5. RED LIGHT RUN IT(ENG) – Trained by jimdscott  – Odds of 3/1
What a name!  Lets hope the trainer doesnt actually see a red light and try and run it.  Or maybe its the horse which runs the red light.  Whos driving anyway – the trainer or the horse?  One of the favourites of the race and in very good form.  Recent win at G1 level in early September with a superb speed rating of 112.  Earnings of just over $1,000,000 just shows how good this colt is. This should be a breeze for this colt.

6. SWEEPER’S SISTER(AUS)  – Trained by songcycle  – Odds of 16/1
Another local Queensland trainer hailing from the Nextbonus Racing stablegroup. Famous trainer by the way and very experienced. Aussie bred out of Spinning World is coming off three very good wins at both Claiming and Allowance company. Ready to take the step up to Stakes level again here and the trainer must be confident putting the girl in with the boys here.  In good form and worth backing at 16/1 odds for at least a place if not better.  Trainer will be hoping she sweeps the competition away and continues her winning run.

7. TYCOON’S NINER(IRE)  – Trained by thelip  – Odds of 16/1
5yo horse out of Last Tycoon. Forty Niner is in the bloodlines which makes sense considering the name of this one.  Seems to prefer the shorter distances though so may struggle a little here.  Will need to hold on and hold on well to get the win. Likes to be in the front runners and will need a good start. Outside chance possibly.

8. SILVERINO(FR)  – Trained by drbydude  – Odds of 5/1
Out of Trempolino and Silver Deputy. Nice to see the names which are following the bloodlines in Silverino.  Coming off two very good speed ratings and a win last time out at Allowance level.  In good form and at 5/1 odds.  Has been tried at Stakes level before with some success and is back here to stake his claim.

9. CHASING TALE(KY) – Trained by ajay11  – Odds of 10/1
Well this one certainly has been chasing his tale and chasing form to be honest.  Was on the speed back in June and trying to find that again now.  Run consistently at Stakes level and higher knows what he has to do to take this out.  Needs class and a very good run. Outside chance.

10. LIBERTINE(IRE) – Trained by super14 – Odds of 2/1
Favourite of the race on the odds table.  Will be pushed by Red Light Run It I think though.  Out of El Prado (IRE) has superb blood lines and has been run consistently at Group level with consistent success.  Likes to close and trainer has been busy finding the right distance somewhere between 6 and 7 furlongs. Real chance here though.

So what to pick punters?  I dont think you can go past Red Light Run It for the win.  Second should be Hunting For Limes with Count ZimZam bringing up third place. Thats my picks – what are yours?

Lastly – this is your article each week.  If you want to see other information, a different format, more detail on your horses, past performances, whatever – let me know and I will include each week.  Just post in the forums or in the Black Type Bugler forum and I will take note of what you want.  Let me know hey!!!

Good luck to all the runners and have a fantastic day at the Queensland track.
