A short but competitive field of 4 are set to battle, when they enter the gate here Saturday, in the 11th running of the $95,000 The WOODEN NIJINSKY Stakes. This race is for 3 yr. olds and up is to be contested over 1 mile and an 1/8th on the Turf Course, and is carded as the 3rd race on the program. We are hoping for a large crowd to be on hand Saturday. The forecast is for a nice sunny with 0% chance of rain and a fast turf course. Lets check out the competitors…

POINT GIVEN x SADLER’S WELLS x TURN-TO
RACE RECORD:29-8-4-2
TRAINER: sos
JOCKEY: S. S. Ledwith
ODDS: 8-5

The big chestnut horse as competed his last 7 starts on the turf. He has definitely proved in them that he loves the grass. I expect GIVE WELLS A TURN to sit off the fast pace and make his move around the bottom turn. My only question is can he hold off the closing kick of CREEPSHOW?

POST #2 – CREEP SHOW (IRE)
ROCK OF GILBRATAR x DEPUTY MINISTER x SEEKING THE GOLD
RACE RECORD: 32-16-4-2
TRAINER: lenny28

JOCKEY: D. Givins
ODDS: 7-5

CREEPSHOW is coming in off a grade 1 win in the Windy City Turf Classic. WHOA what a performance it was. With our leading jockey D. Givins in the saddle this 5 yr. Old horse will be flying at the end. Hard to pick against a graded winner against these.

EL PRADO x SUMMER SQUALL x IN REALITY
RACE RECORD: 15-5-4-2
TRAINER: willyam51
JOCKEY: B. Sipe
ODDS: 3-1
This 4 yr old colt tried stakes company for the 1st time last out. He was given some 6 weeks off before that start. He didn’t fare well there, but if you overlook that start his 116 sp# two back is the fastest in race. The questions are why the 6 week layoff? Why such a lackluster effort in last? If you can find those 2 answers this is your longshot bet. I can’t so I will pass.

POST #4 – STAR STUDENT (KY)
AWESOME AGAIN x DANEHILL x STORM BIRD
RACE RECORD: 20-3-3-3
TRAINER: northsider
JOCKEY: P. Cadigan
ODDS: 4-1

A front runner which is always dangerous in a short field. This 4 yr old brown colt may be the most consistent horse in the race. If STAR STUDENT gets an early lead and is left alone he is a definite danger. I just can’t see RAMMAN letting him get easy fractions. As much as I like this colt. I just can’t use him.

Race review: I see 2 frontrunners RAMMAN & STAR STUDENT just running at each other the first part of the race.. This should give the favorites in the race, GIVE WELLS A TURN & CREEPSHOW the pace they need. They both have the most class and the highest sp#’s. This is what I call a smash-em extra box. Or you could be a gambler like myself and try to figure the winner and smash it only 1 way. Since D. Givens is our leading jockey and S.S. Ledwith is a first year jockey. Hence I’m giving the headbob to CREEPSHOW in a very tight finish!
