Four young Colts, betting is bad for you.

The 10th race feature in Minnesota this week turns to the two year old colt division. Three of the four entries are residents and are playing for a choice of one of the prize horses in the minnyhold2 stable. We have a couple of stakes winners and a horse debuting. The field is tight with the favorite never having run in a stakes level race. The field long shot was bred this week as inspired by one of last weeks entries (if you read last weeks article you would remember that).

1 162634              MELLON’S MY HOME(AUS)                                              danno5290                                                        J O Bluehorse                                                                                    5/2

The only non Minnesota resident tries to clash the party with this 2 year old colt by Carnegie. Already with a turf stakes win to his credit, this Rash entry by danno is a solid bet to make sure none of the residents take home a prize. a seventh place finish last out in Graded company pushes him back into listed company. his best speed came in his maiden win and he’ll have to up it slightly to keep up with Tabor and the others. No reason to think Bluehorse can’t bring this one home though.

2 171590               STONYBROOK IVORY(ENG)                                           mets2000                                                           K Bowen                                                                                              3/1

The Chuckrock Conglomerate Stables took a page out of Kirby’s book todaye by debuting this unraced 2 year old in a stakes race. The breeding was inspired last week by the superpogs stakes entry. The son of Shamardal is the long shot here at 3/1. Bowen has the mount today. Bowen while usually a good jockey here at Minnesota is actually 0 for 5 on chuckrock horses in 2008. The horses inexperience could be his undoing, but I’ll just blame Bowen if he loses.

3 160600                KIRBYSBURG(KY)                                                              kirby88                                                               K Friar                                                                                                   5/2

The great King Kirby tries for todays prize with this son of Teufelsberg. After four impressive dirt tries the kirbster tried turf last out and Kirbysburg came home a winner. That race was also a 4 horse stakes field, so todays race shoud seem familiar. He heads to Minnesota from Massachusetts and he has hired the tracks best jockey in Friar. Kirby is probably the resident who takes a shot at the prize horse more than anyone and its only fitting that he has a solid enry here today.

4 168485                TABOR(IRE)                                                                           zalamy                                                               N O’Hara                                                                                               6/5

Rafa Stables bosts an impressive 14.3 winning percentage overall and zalamy is actually just a tick better than that. This Minnesota resident takes a shot at teh prize with today’s favorite. The son of Dubawi won his maiden impressively last out posting an 80 speed. That race was in North Florida but was enough to tell Zambaygo to send his colt to the Supertoy lawns of Minnesota. Tabor led throughout in his victory so look for him to go straight to the lead here. O’Hara has teh mount as he goes for just his 4th victory on the season.
