Capades Stakes: A girls Spa Day in Vermont.

It is a big weekend in Vermont for racing.  We have many sponsored stakes races on the card and the Capades Stakes would be one of them.   This race is for 2 year old fillies only and they will be traveling the distance of 7.5 furlongs across the firm turf.  The race has drawn a field of eight fillies that will all be trying for their first stakes win.  This race should be exciting and a tough one of which to handicap.  The morning line odds have been released and the post positions drawn.  Let us now take a look at the eight fillies that will take to the turf this weekend in the Capades Stakes.

1CLEARLY ANSWERNY2FballaratJ Piotrowski21100%$42,4000.005/1

First, we will see this Bay Filly (FREUD x SIYOUNI x NEW APPROACH (IRE)) that has two prior starts, and she broke her maiden in her most recent in New York.  She would go 8.5 furlongs on the “good” turf.  Being a little wet out there she seemed not to mind and by the third call she had taken control over the field.  She went on to get the win with an 80 speed rating.  The owner has immediately drafted this filly to skip the Allowance level and send her out for a big challenge in the Capades Stakes this weekend.  This horse will saddle up and head over to her post draw representing the Empire State residency.

Next, we have this Chestnut Filly (WAR DANCER x GIANT’S CAUSEWAY x KINGMAMBO) who has been racing well for the owner.  She has six career starts and has never missed hitting the boards.  Two starts back she would get a third place finish in the Star Speaker Turf Juvenile Fillies.  She would then make her most recent start in Arizona where she would travel 7 furlongs in a $46800 Allowance of which she would make a gate to wire trip for the win with an 83 speed rating.  The owner hopes to see his filly keep her record intact with another hit on the boards when they head out at post time representing Old School Racing.

3SCARLET PANICNY2FbikeboyJ Hernandez4175%$14,6220.1312/1

Here we have a Light Grey Filly (DISCO PARTNER x RED RANSOM x MR. PROSPECTOR) that broke her maiden two starts back in a Hot Race prep in New York.  She would then make her most recent start in New York going 8.5 furlongs in a $50700 NW4L Local Allowance.  She would hold her own in this race and she seemed to like going around two turns as she took a nice jump in her speed ratings.  She is going off as one of the longer choices in the morning line, but she could prove to be better than the odds makers are giving her credit.  She will saddle up in the paddock this weekend and come out to represent the Empire State Racing residency.

4NY STREET WARSNY2Fiheartny1S Tate64100%$155,8605.502/1

This is a Bay Filly (WAR DANCER x DEEP IMPACT x STREET CRY) that has done well for the owner this season.  Her three most recent starts have all been around two turns and she has done very well picking up two wins and a third place finish.  All of her races prior to her most recent were Local starts in New York.  Last time out to the track she would head out to adventure into new territory in Massachusetts.  She would make the start going 8.5 furlongs in a Listed Stakes, Wedding March Turf Juvenile Fillies.  At the third call she was up by two strides on the field, but she would be run down in the final stretch and cross the wire in third with a 95 speed rating.  She is looking game this weekend in her pursuit of a Stakes win.  She will head out this weekend in the post parade representing the All-Stars Racing residency.

5POWER OF THUNDERNY2Fzkingab48J Benisz31100%$61,1251.005/1

Next, we will see this Bay Filly (SON OF THUNDER x DANSILI (GB) x GIANT’S CAUSEWAY) that has not been off the boards in her three career starts.  She broke her maiden two starts back in Berkshire and then would be sent out for her most recent start in New South Wales where she would go 6.5 furlongs in a $45600 NW2L Allowance.  She put up a good fight but would cross under the wire in second with an 80 speed rating.  The owner has liked what he is seeing out of this filly and is in hope she can step up with this bump in class this weekend when she is sent out representing the Empire State Racing residency.

6B. BROWNIE DUBSNY2FdbJ Ingram2150%$17,5200.005/1

Here we have a Bay Filly (BIG BROWN x DUBAWI (IRE) x GIANT’S CAUSEWAY) that has made two prior starts.  In her first race would finish up a disappointing ninth going 8 furlongs in an Owner Restricted Stakes, The ESR Lelawala Stakes that was on the dirt.  The owner moved this filly over to the turf in her most recent outing and would send her to travel 8.5 furlongs in Vermont in a $29200 Local Maiden race of which she would get a nice win by over two lengths with an 83 speed rating.  She will take the jump in class this weekend to spar against this field and the owner is hoping she will give a good performance being sent out to travel only one turn for the first time.  Look for her to make a move around the third call if she is to fire when she breaks from her gate representing the Empire State Racing residency.

7SVALBARDNY2F42ndstreetH Ross3167%$33,3150.007/1

Next, we have this Light Grey Filly (SOLOMINI x ARCH x TAPIT) that would break her maiden on the third try as she was switched to the turf by her owner.  This was also her most recent start and it was here in Vermont of which she would break her maiden.  She would travel 8.5 furlongs in a $29200 Local Allowance race.  She would power her way into third by the time of the third call and then would take control in her stretch drive to get up for the win by two and a half with an 82 speed rating.  The owner likes what she saw out of this filly on the turf and feels she can put up a good challenge against this field when she is sent out at post time representing the Empire State Racing residency.

8CHAOS CONTROLNY2Fphotonic3D Fendlay Jr.300%$00.0022/1

Breaking in the far gate will be this Chestnut Filly (BIG BROWN x RAHY x NORTH LIGHT) who is the longest choice in the morning line.  Thus far this fillies three career starts have been lackluster.  In her most recent start, she would be sent out in New York to travel 8 furlongs in a $50000 Local Maiden Claiming race.  She again would be met with disappoint as she crossed the wire in eighth and was well back in the field.  This horse needs to show up much improved if she is to challenge in this field when she heads over to her gate representing the East-West Connection residency.

Skippy’s Watch List

2-She’s A Warrior:  Coming off a win last time out.  She should challenge in this one.

4-NY Street Wars: Looked good last time out in a listed. Can she get the win this time?

5-Power Of Thunder:  This race looks to be right for this filly. Can she get the job done?
