Fillies and mares, 2 years old

Four young fillies, four reasons to bet.

The 10th race feature in Minnesota this week is for the youngsters and should be exciting. Really at this stage in their careers, any of these fillies can win this contest. This can be seen with the close odds.

1 160045     BLUE GREEN HUNTER(KY)                      fab36                                                                             K Friar                                       8/5

Fabman has an entry from one of his Nortwest Racing Circuit stables here in lane one. Fab, how come all of your stakes horses belong to other residencies? Blue Green Hunter is the two year old daughter of Bluegrass Cat and Declaration who was a D rated mare in her time. This filly has won all three of her career starts and makes her debut in stakes company this week in Minnesota. Thus far she has loved the greens in Texas winning her last two allowances in the Lone Star state. Each race has gradually increased the distance and has also produced gradual increases in speed numbers. Her last was an 80 in a race that was a half furlong shorter than she’ll be asked to run here. Friar is the track’s best and she knows a good one she she sees it.

2 164156    CLOYEE(KY)                                                  fewifany                                                                         O Man                                      9/5

Old Man decided that this 2 year old daughter of Forest Wildcat and The Ab ( an H rated mare) was worthy of his services today. The short odds are perhaps more a function of the short field than this filly’s past. She has three runs, two of which are in stakes company, and has won only her maiden. However, this will be her first go on the grass. I’m not positive that a switch like this is wise to do still at the stakes level, but I’m also pretty sure that the size of the field factored into Timmn’s thought process. This stable is one of Timmn’s RASH stables. This stable is Timmn’s newest and is a fine example of how to treat a new stable. Forest Wildcat produced much more dirt money than turf (69%) so this expriment may not turn out how Timmn hopes.

3 113846       CHIONE(KY)                                                martialis                                                                         D Macknamara                     5/2

I find it hard to believe that a 14.1% trainer only has this one stable, but alas we may never know who actually owns this fantasic stable. Nonassociated with a residency, martialis hired Macknamara and his 1.9% winning percentage on the year. The daughter of North Light enters her sixth race, having won two previously. She has run exclusively on the turf, but this is her first visit to the Supertoy Lawn in Minnesota. Her previous races have all come at 6 furlongs or shorter, so the extra distance will be a question here. She has typically sat behind the leaders and in her two wins she made nice movement  on the stretch. Perhaps a notch behind the better two year olds out there, she has found a good field to try her tactics on here.

4 57848           NINETEEN AND OH(KY)                        erik88888                                                                       K Bowen                                   3/1

The field’s “long shot” at 3/1 has the track’s second best jockey with Bowen today. The nonaffiliated stable which belongs to rfankel – a Pastures of Green member, has a sexy 12.7 winning percentage. You have to love a horse which makes fun of the New England Patriots, or at least I do. This horse has run three races, won her maiden, and then was shifted to stakes races. Her last outing in Wyoming looked promising, when she placed and posted a 73 at 6.5 furlongs. The daughter of Arch has Mineshaft and Sadler’s Wells in her pedigree and quite frankly should excel in this spot. In race that is perhaps anyone’s to grab, don’t toss this “long shot”.

What’s happening in Minnesota?

The next sire series is going to start on 11/29/08.  This series is open to all residents, whether extremely active or not, and whether they join the residency after this post or not. I am going to post this contest on the main message board as an enticement to join the residency. I will cap it at the first 20 entries – should we get that many.

Here are the rules for the series:

MINNESOTA SIRE SERIES

This is a contest where residents must breed a horse using a specified sire (Came Home) and that runner is restricted to running in a 12 race series over 36 weeks. The races are a mix of sprints, routes, dirt and grass races. While a horse does not have to compete in all 12 races of the series to remain eligible they are limited to running in the series and will be disqualified if they race in a race outside of the contest while it is still in progress.

The chosen sire is picked by the previous contest winner and then there is a 20 week period for residents to breed there horse (3 year old).

The purse structure for the series is as follows:
RACES 1 THRU 4—$50K PURSES
RACES 5 THRU 8—$75K PURSES
RACES 9 THRU 12—$100K PURSES

The top 3 money earners at the end of the 12 race series will earn the following credit prizes.

1ST PLACE= 3000 CREDITS
2ND PLACE=1500 CREDITS
3RD PLACE=1000 CREDITS

Races will be held every 3 weeks and will be purchased by the residency.

Entrants may replace their entry at any point in the series but will lose credit for anything earned up to that point.

———————————————————————————-
Please enter you horse in the designated thread on the Minnesota message board. Put the Name, Sex, ID, stable to enter. Make sure you breed a three year old. The horse will turn four early into the series; so that may be something to consider when picking blood lines.
