So the big BTB break is finally over and it’s back to business as usual here in Longchamp … except we have an extremely poor turn-out for this weeks feature race. No offence intended to those two stables who have legitimate entries but any race with two computer runners is probably not the most entertaining spectacle on offer in the Sim this week. However, we shall press on. The runners are:
INVISIBLE POWER(KY)
Trainer: ziploc
(Pleasantly Perfect x
Odds: 6/5 Earnings: 122,026 Runs/Wins: 12/5
Stakes wins: 2007 The Strip Miner Bonanza
2008 The Green Eyed Monster Challenge
A 3yo filly from Sunshine Stables bred from an F grade mare Bred by piccolo87. The third breeding by her dam and probably the best despite not yet being the top earner. She spent all her early races on dirt where she had a reasonably successful career, but was switched to turf back in march with remarkable results. Her last race, over 11 furlongs, was a terrific stakes win and it will be interesting to see whether she will prove to be as good over this even longer distance. All the signs look good so she should prove to be a worthy favourite here.
PANFIELD
Trainer: *computer
(Spinning World x Machiavellian x Roberto)
Odds: 7/2 Earnings: 97,756 Runs/Wins: 14/5
5A 7yo scratchbred mare bred by apmccoy. Started out pretty well for her original stable, winning her first two races as a 2yo. Followed that up with a couple of allowances before being entered in a $15k claimer. Ran only once for her next stable and had a 4 year break before racing for the computer back in July. She’s never run anything close to this distance before and the signs don’t look particularly good for her.
KERIS DAGGER BED(KY)
Trainer:
(Empire Maker x Sadler’s Wells x Kris S.)
Odds: 8/5 Earnings: 137,660 Runs/Wins: 16/5
Stakes wins: 2008 The Kong’s Images Stakes
The Old Maple(IRE) Challenge
A 4yo scratchbred mare from Cothill Stables. A nice mare who looks pretty good over these long distances, although her foray into Graded company last time proved to be a bit of a nightmare for her. There’s no doubt she’ll get the distance but whether she will prove strong enough to beat the favourite is open to debate. As for the name … do I detect a reference to a Runescape weapon there?
SUCCUBUS
Trainer: *computer
(Spectacular Bid x Gilded Time x Marshua’s Dancer)
Odds: 4/1 Earnings: 62,404 Runs/Wins: 35/3
An 8yo mare bred from an F grade mare by allhogs. Only raced a couple of times as a 2yo for her breeder before being claimed for $13.5k where she took a little while to finally break her maiden tag. Though most of her racing ahs been on dirt she has managed the occasional reasonable performance on turf but this first run for the computer, and her first in over 3 years, could be a real struggle for her.
Summary
What can I say – a generally poor field which looks like an easy win for the favourite Invisible Power(KY), but then stranger things have happened.
