Great Three Across Race!
Everyone was standing and screaming at the General’s Daughter Memorial Stake race today in Argentina. The seven and a half furlong race for three and up fillies and mares was run on a fast dirt course and it was certainly a horse race.
It was a three horse race from the very start to the finish in every sense of the word. Green Future, Alcatraz and Lily With the Hawk were never further apart than shouting distance and traded the lead back and forth throughout. In the end, the elder lady of the bunch shot forward to grab the win at the wire in a thrilling finish.
It took a personal best speed figure of 107 to gather the win for Lady With the Hawk and trainer waremblem3 was sure one of those jumping up and down at the finish. This lightly raced six year old mare has really looked great in her last three, all in stakes where she has now finished in the top two. She may be headed toward a graded race if she can continue like this.
The real story about this race though was the fantastic race from this trio. Green Future who was a nose behind Lily was also a nose ahead of Alcatraz. The two also rans both ran 106s and also look good for the future. Hopefully for their trainers, there won’t be many more like this as it certainly wears on your heart!
