Welcome to New Jersey for this exciting race. Thats right its time for the Little Tree Stakes Grade 3. Lots of talented trainers have brought their talented horses over to New Jersey, just to run them in this race. It is probably the biggest event New Jersey has seen in a few years. All of these great horses will be competiting for graded status, some are making their debut at this level while others are simply making their way back for another attempt to become graded.
PP 1 Delite Of My Life Trn Barnburn2 5/1
Afternoon Deelites x Grand Slam x Unbridled
This young colt has been hot in his last five races, winning four out of the five. He likes to grab an early lead and pull away from the pack. This young colt could run away with this race if he runs his race. In his only graded race though he did finish in fifth place, so it will be interesting to see how he fairs returning to graded stakes. He just might be a graded colt after the dust settles.
PP 2 MVP Trn Seekgold99 15/1
Victory Gallop x Old Trieste x Seeking The Gold
This young colt has been improving in his races, and is looking for his first stakes win. He is coming from a good showing in an allowance to this grade three stakes race. Lets see if this nice colt continues to show his talent at this higher level of competition. He seems to like sticking near the lead or having the lead. If he makes his kick just right he can put some distance between him and the rest. Watch out for MVP to be a real contender in the grade 3.
PP 3 Del Penn Dude Trn Topicountc 3/1
Forest Wildcat x Kingmambo x Seattle Slew
This colt has shown he can run with the best of them. He broke his maiden with an amazing 81 speed figure. This young colt likes to come from the middle of the pack or just off the lead, before he kicks on the speed. It will be nice watching this young stud run his race in graded competition. He just might be the horse holding the leading going into the wire.
PP 4 Rally Van Trn Ashleigh 5/1
Van Nistelrooy x Came Home x A. P. Indy
This young colt has been in graded competition before, and is making another trip there this weekend. His last race he posted an 82 speed figure, finishing second in a grade three. With this colts running style he could be a threat to watch for late in the race. He likes to hang towards the middle of the pack to the beginning of the pack, before starting to kick and make his move.
PP 5 Ransom Dancin Trn Socalsipe 4/1
Strategic Prince x Red Ransom x Forty Niner
This colt has finished in the money in all of his four races. His speed figures are improving with each race he runs. He broke his maiden on the turf, before being switched to dirt. The switch turned out good in the next race, giving him back to back wins in his first two outings. This young stud likes to get out front, and lead the rest of the competition to the finish line.
PP 6 On The Road Trn Super4 4/1
Dynaformer x Unbridled’s Song x Nijinsky II
Another colt who has been in the money in all of his races, is On The Road. He has been running better races, with every outing he has. Once this colt reaches his mark, he will start to kick in a burst of speed to make it to the front. He is looking at his first graded attempt, coming of a win in The Wackin’ James stake. He won with an impressive 80 speed figure. Look for this horse to be a contender near the stretch of the race.
PP 7 Grand Bank Trn Gowand2 11/1
Grand Slam x Banker’s Gold x Well Mannered
This young colt is coming of a good showing in The Wackin’ James stakes. He finished in third, with a speed figure of 77. He has been improving in speed over the course of his races. He has been in the money in four of his five races. This horse likes to hang just off the lead, before making a charge for the lead.
PP 8 Stevie Ray Trn Gradetwo 5/1
Seeking The Gold x Sadler’s Wells x Gone West
This colts first two races were in slightly sloppy to sloppy mud tracks. When he got on a fast dirt track, his speed figure increased to a 77. He has finished in the money in all of his races so far. He likes to hang just off the lead, or be out in front right away. If he gets the lead it becomes a question of if he can hold off the other great competitors in this race.
Final Thoughts
There are a lot of great young colts in the race. This race is going to come down to who runs their race the best. With all this talent, it is sure to be an exciting finish. It is so hard to pick a winner out of this group because they are all so good. I don’t think there is a real standout in this group. I am going to go with Rally Van for the win. One thing is for certain one of these horses will be a graded colt after this race.
