G1 Middlepark Stakes Preview
13 will take to the starting gate for this G1 6 furlong sprint on the turf. Here is the field:
#1 I Am In Deep (All-Stars Racing) 6/1
Top Speed: 92.9
Breeding: Mare Desecry has produced 9 other offspring with 2018 G1 Deep Rivers winning over $1 million in his career. #2 sire I am Invincible (Aus) has 62 winners from 144 runners including 10 stake winners this season.
Summary: 3 of 4 in his life with the only defeat coming on yielding turf. Dominating performance with the off the pace victory in the G1 Blue Diamond Road last time. Looked like he was shot out of a canon down the stretch and reeled them all in to post the highest speed figure of this group. Will look to get back-to-back G1 victories and have to figure he has quite the chance. Only 3 others here have graded victories.
#2 Anna Alone (East-West Connection) 19/1
Top Speed: 80.2
Breeding: Mare Annie Alone has produced 9 other offspring with 2021 SP Blame Awareness the best of the group. #1120 sire Kameko has 15 winners from 57 runners this season.
Summary: After winning his maiden by almost a length this one hasn’t got back onto the podium. Jumped right into the G3 Railaway and came on a bit for a 6th place finish. Stretched out to a mile and he definitely wasn’t a fan of the route as he ran last all the way around the track. Cuts back to a sprint and into graded company so a bit of an uphill climb here. Odds are probably fair considering those last two outcomes.
#3 Coagulate Season (East-West Connection) 31/1
Top Speed: 62.7
Breeding: Mare Hocking has produced two other offspring with one being an allowance runner. #1179 sire Proisir (Aus) has 8 winners from 32 runners this season.
Summary: Longest shot on the board and it makes sense why. 1 for 1 lifetime but that came in a New Zealand bred maiden claimer. Handled the bunch with ease but the jump into this group is like night and day. Wouldn’t expect him to be competitive here.
#4 Irish Natt (The Mecca) 10/1
Top Speed: 84.8
Breeding: Mare Irish Speights has produced one other offspring who is SP. #42 sire Nathaniel has 14 winners from 62 runners including one other stake winner.
Summary: Most experience in the field as this will be his 10th start in his juvenile season. He has won 3 times with his latest race the biggest score of his young career. He took down the G3 Aaron Burr making him one of four in this field who has won a graded event. It will be his sixth graded event in a row but has yet to really be competitive in back to back starts. I feel he should be in the mix late with a podium visit a likely goal for this event.
#5 Far Ts (East-West Connection) 19/1
Top Speed: 78.6
Breeding: Mare Four T’s has produced 8 other offspring with 2021 Flugsun Four the best of the bunch. #1680 sire Farhh has 10 winners from 39 runners this season.
Summary: Tried a stakes before he ever broke his maiden but two back got back into maiden company and finally got that win under his belt. The jump into the G2 Jimrack wasn’t ideal as he came a non-competitive 9th. The winner of that one is in this race so he will really need a change in form to be competitive against him. Think he is at a level over his head at this point in his career.
#6 The Brutal Bone (Down Under Racing) 9/1
Top Speed: 85.2
Breeding: Mare Privileges has produced 3 other offspring with a couple of them allowance runners. #44 sire Brutal (NZ) has 6 winners from 11 runners with this one being the only stake winner.
Summary: He has had quite the trajectory with the start in the claiming ranks for his first three races. Didn’t take them long to slide him into the G3 Cyborg in July where he came 3rd in a field of 11 to show that he belongs with some of the best juvenile turf sprinters this season. One of only 3 in here to be coming off a graded victory as he took down the G2 Jimcrack last time and looks to keep his 7 of 7 podium streak going.
#7 Bragi Accla (European Union Racing Organization) 6/1
Top Speed: 82.8
Breeding: G1 winning mare Dancer Meztli has produced two other offspring with limited success. #113 sire Acclamation has 29 winners from 55 runners including one stake winner.
Success: 2 for 2 lifetime and has done it the conventional way. Shown versatile styles as well as he has led the whole way in that allowance victory and was able to come from off the pace in the maiden win. One of the favorites here so the oddsmakers respect his chances. Maybe the jump into graded company won’t be such a giant challenge, but he will need to improve that figure to get the job done here. Obviously he is in with a chance.
#8 Primed Barbara (Only Stayers) 9/2
Top Speed: 89.5
Breeding: He is a Churchill (Ire) x Danehill x Dynaformer scratch breed.
Summary: Undefeated in his lifetime and has taken the conservative approach to get here. Has been favored in all of those so has done a good job of living up to expectations. The win in the King Kylie Nc looked easy so the slight drop in speed figure isn’t overly concerning. Still one of the highest in the field. Definitely interested to see how he faces against some of the more experienced ones here, but has to be considered a threat from that body of work.
#9 Pulls To The Left (All-Stars Racing) 10/1
Top Speed: 87.6
Breeding: Mare Pivot to the Left has produced 2 other offspring with one being an allowance runner. #184 sire Farnan (Aus) has 20 winners from 78 runners with this one being the only stake winner this season.
Summary: After that first maiden try he reeled off 3 straight victories including the win in the Vice Louis. Tried the big boys in the G1 Blue Diamond Road last time out and though he faded a bit in the stretch run he didn’t embarrass himself with the 5th place showing. His speed figure increased nicely and you would have to think the experience in that one helps here. The winner and 3rd place finishers come back in this, so will he be able to turn the tables on them?
#10 Fight Klub (MIDAS) 12/1
Top Speed: 82.7
Breeding: SW mare Rockbone Lass has produced 3 other offspring with 2020 SW Atomic Sushi the best of the group. #117 sire Nicconi has 10 winners from 24 runners with this one being the only stake winner this season.
Summary: Is 3 for 3 if you take out the graded races. Won the Hushwing Lion by a head so he does have a local stakes win under his belt. The last race in the G3 A Bomb was just a steady middle of the pack finish where he never threatened. Cuts back to 6 furlongs but didn’t have much success in that graded event either. Might be a really good allowance runner at this point. In a touch over his head with this field.
#11 Devil Wish (Only Stayers) 7/1
Top Speed: 84.8
Breeding: Mare Dark Hearts has produced 3 other offspring with only one of them being SP. #24 sire Kodiac (GB) has 33 winners from 81 runners including 4 stake winners this season.
Summary: Only took him two races to jump into the graded world and he hasn’t looked out of place in the two races he has run there. Won the G3 Mother Lois in his first effort and tried to propel that to back-to-back victories in the G1 More Nay. However, his stretch run came up a bit short and he finished 3rd behind dominant filly The Girlfriend. Would have liked to have seen his speed figure improve in that one, as it will need to take a jump here to be competitive. Can’t knock the results though.
#12 Seawall Loop (East-West Connection) 8/1
Top Speed: 89.9
Breeding: This is SW mare Stanley Parks’ first offspring. #139 sire Exceed and Excel has 27 winners from 75 runners with this one being the only stake winner this season.
Summary: Has run all his races at this distance but with varying degrees of success. The 4th in the Salisbury Medallion looked like he flashed some potential but the G2 July Stakes proved to be just too tough for him. Bounced back really nicely last out with the 2nd in the El Hermitz. Came short by a head but the speed figure rocketed upward nicely. If he runs back to that race he should be in the mix.
#13 Invincible Beach (Sherwood Forest) 11/1
Top Speed: 88.1
Breeding: Mare Espoir has produced 5 other offspring with 2018 G1 winner Excel Home the best of the group. #1289 sire Beach Patrol has 12 winners from 52 runners this season,
Summary: Has never finished off the podium and jumped right into graded company after that maiden victory. He came away with a pair of thirds in the G3 Golden HandGrenade and G1 Blue Diamond Road. The winner of the last is here so will have to make up the 2 ¼ lengths on him somehow here. Like his consistency and has lots of experience. Will he be able to get over that hump of just being slightly below the best?
My predictions: 8 / 1 / 6
