Four signed up to run in Pharstorm Challenge
The Pharstorm Challenge has drawn the smallest field in the history of this stakes event with only four entered in the 10f event. The conditions of the turf course may be the cause for the short field as the turf is being classified as “yielding”. Fillies and mares 3 years and up are eligible to run.
1. Bar Hunter 5-2
Bar Hunter is making her return to stakes racing after a year layoff. Bar Hunter was claimed back in March for $5k and has already recoverd that through a series of starter races. Bar has never won a stakes race in five starts, but is running the best of her career. She has won her last 6 turf starts, two of them on good tracks. Two of her last four races were charted at speeds of 100 and 102 (and at 10f). Despite racing in lower classes, she looks like she has a shot here.
2. Sister Sister 15-1
Sister Sister is a computer sim throw-in to fill the field. She has run as a filler in stakes on the turf her last 3 times out. She is not a turf runner and is doubtful she will be any kind of factor in this race.
3. Landaloosh 1-1
Landaloosh put in an impressive race last outing going 10.5f in a speed of 102. She excited her backers when she rallied from 10 back at the half to win by 3. She is rarely off the board, scoring 12 of 15 turf starts. She looks solid and is worthy of consideration.
4. Love Quest 7-5
Love Quest is another that comes home hard. She has put in two recent races with speeds over 100. The distance suits her, however, she doesn’t win many turf events (5 wins in 26 tries).
This is a rather interesting field, as there are no front runners going. Throwing out Sister Sister, the remainder of the field are all late closers, but, it is hard to run down the leaders when there are no leaders in the race. With that said, it looks like the entire field will run en masse and the real race will begin as they round the final turn. Landaloosh has the class and consistancy, so she will get the top nod. Love Quest gets my second choice as her performance in stakes is better than Bar Hunter who is my third choice.
Good luck to everyone!
