Eleven Horses have entered on what looks to be a sunny Iowa summer day.

PP #1          Devastating Yield                    @ 8-1

Trained by Clranchoti, a member of Terrapin Jockey Club

Ridden by I. Perry

Devastating Yield is a five year old son of High Yield out of the A.P. Indy mare Devastating Burst.  After showing talent, Clranchoti bought Devastating Yield in auction back in the summer of 2006.  Under the new care he has been steadily improving.   His last race out, he won an 8.5 furlong allowance race over a sloppy main track with a speed figure of 108.  In his last five races he’s ran triple digit speed figures from 8 to 9 furlongs.  Look for Devastating Yield to be closing late.

PP #2 Lucky’s Tortus (KY)                       @ 42-1

Trained by Mrlucky229, a member of the Ohio Thoroughbred Racing

Ridden by C. Lyden

Lucky’s Tortus is a three year old son of Sky Mesa, out of a Ela-Mana-Moo (IRE) mare.  Lucky’s Tortus is trying to take on older completion in this race.  He was a stakes winner on turf and stakes placed on dirt as a two year old.    An improving colt who won an 8 furlong allowance race with a speed figure of 100.  He will try to go gate to wire in this race, being on the lead seems to be his preferred running style.  He looks to be one of the next great stars in the sim, but might be overmatched in this race.

PP # 3 Private Disco (KY)               @ 9-1

Trained by Murray2, a member of Worldwide Racing

Ridden by C. Duncan

Private Disco is a four year old son of Kingmambo, out of Antiquity by Stephen Got Even.  After suffering from hoof problems Private Disco made his first start at three and has been on steady improvement since.  His last race was at this distance in which he won an allowance race with a speed figure of 106.  His last five races he’s posted speed figures of 104 and up, from 8 – 10 furlongs.  Private Disco is a versatile runner that can press the pace, but prefers to close.  The pace of this race will determine where Duncan has him sitting coming down the backside.

PP # 4 Go For Pit (KY)                    @ 11-1

Trained by Sastable

Ridden by A. Blood

Go for Pit is a stakes placed four year old son of Strong Hope, out of Pit Hunter by Pulpit.  Go for Pit is having a hot streak for Sastable.  His last race was a 105 speed figure score in an allowance race, which followed a 9F allowance win with a 106 speed figure.  These other horses had better not ignore him because this horse has a taste of winning fresh on his tongue.  He is another versatile type runner that will react to how the pace unfolds

PP # 5 Rajahama (JPN)                            @ 11-1

Trained by Dcindy, a member of EAAA Racing

Ridden by H. Newsome

Rajahama is a five year old son of King Kamehameha (JPN) out of a Rahy mare.  His last race was an eight furlong allowance that he won with a speed figure of 104.  Three races back he just missed in a ten furlong race with a 106 speed figure, so the added distance should help him in this race.  Rajahama likes to sit towards the back and will be looking for a good trip and a chance to make his move coming around the turn for home.

PP # 6 Mr. Eko (IRE)                      @ 22-1

Trained by Pointe

Ridden by K. Chilcoat

Mr. Eko is a four year old graded winner by Street Cry (IRE), out of JungFrau by Forestry.  He was a multiple stakes winner at two, multi graded winner at three and he is stakes placed at four.  After some minor aches and pains Mr. Eko is trying to regain his brilliant form.  His last race at eight and a half furlongs he was pulled up on the backstretch by his jockey Peeples because of wheezing.  After the race he was scoped and found to had some minor lung infection.  With the infection cleared up he has trained well leading up to this race.  Back in March Mr. Eko ran eight and a half furlongs in the slop to just miss at the wire with a speed figure of 112.  If Mr. Eko doesn’t fire in this race Pointe has said he would give him a rest and be ready for a late fall or winter campaign.  Look for him to be on or near the lead.

PP # 7 Stately Storm (KY)               @ 5/2

Trained by Whodrwho25

Ridden by O. Parker

Stately Storm is a graded placed and multi stakes winning son of the great Storm Cat, out of Grade 1 winning mare Empress by Seeking The Gold.  Stately Storm only had one race as a two year old and a good three year old year.  His four year old season however has stepped up to an all new level.  He entered his first stakes race in January of this year, and since has compiled a stakes record of 4-1-1 in six races.  All but his first two races have been at today’s distance, and his last race he won a stakes race with a speed figure of 113.  His last seven races post an average speed of just over 112.  He will be sitting off the pace to make his infamous stretch move.

PP # 8 Winter is Coming (KY)        @ 9-1

Trained by Sunshine34, a member of GR Simsters

Ridden by O.Brooks

Winter is coming is a stakes winning four year old son of More Than Ready.  His dam is  Broad Project by Broad Brush which has foaled 3 stakes winners and another stakes placed runner.  He has won stakes at two and three and is stakes placed at 4.  His last race was at ten furlongs and was eased because it just wasn’t his day.  Two back he ran a speed figure of 115 at eight furlongs and got nipped in the stretch.  He’s earned solid triple digit figures from 7.5 – 9 furlongs.  Looks to be more of a miler but if he can get a good lead he could take this from gate to wire.

PP # 9 Tiz a Tornado (KY)              @ 5-1

Trained by Simond4, a member of Kentucky Horsemen

Ridden by W. Bentley

Tiz a Tornado is a graded placed and stakes winning son of Tiznow.  His dam is Graded Placed Yasgur Squall by Woodman, and has foaled two stakes winners.  Tiz a Tornado has ran triple digits in every race in the past year.  He ran third in the Smackdown in 2006 as a two year old.  His last race at today’s distance was a 103 speed figure.  Look for him to be pressing the pace to keep it honest, then make his bid coming around the turn.

PP # 10 Golden Toy (KY)                @ 5-1

Trained by Lostcode, a member of Pastures of Green

Ridden by P. Hogin

Golden Toy is a stakes placed son of Touch Gold, out of Toy Story by Woodman.  His last race at one mile he ran a speed of 111, and his last dirt race at this distance he won an allowance with a 116.  His last ten races on dirt have all been triple digit speeds, with a good run on turf also.  Look for Golden Toy to be another one to be on or near the lead.  He has shown the ability to rate though if pace is too strong.

PP # 11 Ransom Phyl (SAF)            @ 8-1

Trained by Adonai

Ridden by G. Daniels

Ransom Phyl is a five year old stakes placed son of Horse Chestnut, out of stakes placed Coronado’s Jug by Red Ransom.  After showing signs of improving talent Adonai claimed him last September.  He has ran several 109’s and a 110 at nine furlongs and a 109 at this distance.  Look for him to be another that’s pressing this pace.

My Picks: 7 – 10 – 11

Long shot play – 6
