Keep History Alive
After seeing the small fields for the Bargain Series races this week I am moved to write this article. The bargain series of races are run by Knightmare who spends his whole year planning and setting up these races largely at his own expense. While many of us may never win a Breeders Bowl race even the newest of players has the chance to win a Bargain Bowl race to gain stakes recognition many players have some pretty good bargain horses that they may have claimed but have not realise that they have one so go through your lists of horses and see if there’s a potential bargain bred stakes winner lurking. If you are unsure you can E-MAIL him at mcbwildcat@aol.com or visit his website at http://knightmare.freehostia.com/ there you can find schedule for whole years racing and a list of a few sire worth looking at. I’m a great fan of bargain breds and his series and i can tell you the satisfaction of winning one of these races is as great as any stakes victory.
For those interested here are a few of my bargain breds and i will try to explain my theories in breeding bargain horses hope this will interest you in trying to breed a few. As i watch my runners on a Saturday i find i have nonperforming runners that should go. Why not breed a bargain runner over them hey you never know.
First I like to bred them early in the year when Mike resets the sires tickers some good sires who get a lot more expensive as the year goes by are cheap and the first season sire tickers are low for first few months . Usually I pick a dam sire 1st 1 between 40-60bp and go from there i like sires from unknown regions they are a lot cheaper look at your local area sire look for ones that are well bred have been used very few times if any and are only 2-3 years as sires then use a dds that goes as close to taking you to 100bps but only gets to 99bps then breed one always look at more expensive horses to see sire combos that work and use cheaper versions. Here are a few of my Bargain breds .
So as you can see these are just a few and there have been some great champions down through the years that have raced and beaten the best in the sim. Hope this inspires you to breed a few and join those of us who have had great enjoyment in this type of racing it pays to breed as late as possible to get advantage of lowest ticker prices and get the best value. A if you have a stable not supporting any residencies think of supporting Knightmare all his reses credits go to funding these great contests
