IRISH 1000 GUINEAS Recap
Redoute’s Rock broke alertly and it was clear sailing on the front-end as she was unchallenged for the first half of the race and amassed a 4 length lead with TAKHISIS and XTRA PLATINUM closest. Just when it looked like she might be sailing to victory AL GODON DE AZUCAR and DEERSTANDING unleashed massive moves around the half way mark and surged past the pacesetter around the 7 furlong marker. GUINEAS TOAST and ALAYAYA started their moves much too late but came flying late to run down the tiring pace maker Redoute’s Rock who finished 5th. It was a battle to the wire as robsscoobi’s Strong Hope filly DEERSTANDING was making steady gains on AL GODON DE AZUCAR but failed to overtake the Tapit offspring.
With the win AL GODON DE AZUCAR took a graded win at first asking after several stakes victories. The winner has amassed over 460k in lifetime earnings and looks poised for an Equinics day showdown with a few rivals from this race. Here is to being IRISH for a day.
