Stakes – Purse $100,000
Restricted to 2 Year Olds
6.5 furlongs on Dirt

Today we are at Louisiana Downs in Bossier City Louisiana for the running of the ERC “JUSTIFY”, a 6.5 furlong race on the dirt for two-year olds.  This race features a field of seven and presents  the best “newbie” horses that the residency has to offer. They will be competing for a purse of $100,000 and the winner will also collect the lion’s share of the stakes bonus points awarded, which will determine a club champion at year end. All seven of the entries have finished in the money in all of their starts and three come in undefeated. This is going to be a great race with lots of speed and it could come down to a photo finish at the wire.

Here is a closer look at the field:

#5
firenze on tap
newfy2023 barn
c wall                          7/1

This two-year old scratch bred son of FIRENZE FIRE (x CITY ZIP x TAPIT) broke his maiden last time out when he ran 75 speed over six furlongs against a thirteen horse field in Japan. He will probably look to stay in the middle of the pack in the early going and should have enough as they head for home. He might be an early candidate to represent the barn at next year’s Derby.

#6
hot rod merk
dunndowns barn
x turner                      3/1

This two-year old son of MO DONEGAL out of the Sim Mare MERKY DISPOSITION is undefeated in three career starts and has never trailed in any of his races, having gone gate to wire in all three. Last time out, he blazed 82 speed at this same distance at an Allowance Race in Kentucky but was nearly run down by a nice colt named RUNAWAY SINNER. He will go to the front early and might be tough to catch and has a good chance to increase his winning streak to four.

#7
shenteng
amirnew3 barn
b richard                     4/1

This two-year old CALIFORNIA CHROME filly out of the Sim Mare ARE YOU RICH has started her career with back to back gate to wire six furlong wins. She ran 78 speed to win her Maiden in mid February and followed that up with a 76 speed win against a field of eight in New York in early April. Chosen from a crop of more than two-hundred two-year olds to represent the stable and should fare well at this distance and against the boys.

#3
sorbic acid
harrylan35 barn
d coleman                              3/1

This two-year old scratch bred son of SPEIGHTSTOWN (x DANZIG x MISWAKI) comes in off a win last time out when he ran 78 speed at a six and a half furlong Allowance race in Kentucky. He ran near the back of the pack in that one and will probably look to deploy a similar strategy here before looking to run down the leaders for a spot on the board. He should be in the mix and has a good chance of taking home the win for the ownership group.

#4
game winners
jbcri23 barn
l sanders                     9/2

This two-year old son of GAME WINNER out of the Sim Mare I AM SO READY proved he is no fool by taking home his debut on April 1 at an Allowance Race in Kentucky at this same distance. He ran 78 speed there and managed to outrun amir’s colt ARROW OF DANZER and win by a length. He should go off as one of the favorites and garner lots of attention at the betting windows.

#2
dregran
razer8 (summerset)
r finn                    6/1

This two-year old son of DREFONG out of the Sim Mare GRANELLA started his career with a runner-up finish in January at a HOT race where her ran 70 speed over a five furlong track. After a nine week rest he returned to the track and broke his maiden when he ran 76 speed and won by more than a length over six furlongs. He will probably look to stay near the back of the pack in the early going and should have enough as they head for home.

#1
saturday tornado
dfb barn (dontbetonme)
n landers                             7/1

This two-year old son of SMOLINSKI out of the Sim Mare TEX TORNADO was picked up at a claiming race in early March where he ran 69 speed and ran gate to wire to break his maiden. In his first race for the dontbetonme outfit he again went gate to wire and blazed 76 speed at this same distance. He will likely go to the front again here and will battle for the early lead and should have a good chance of finding a spot on the board.
