BOODHA throws out anchor; STAR OF THE NORTH shines
By ITCH
There she was, a vision in Simulated equine speed, powering along all alone in front of the D-Day Distaff.
Then, a familiar thing happened. BOODHA threw out the anchor. The Legendary Stables’ gray mare, fresh off a Grade I score, folded her tent as she had previously in her career and faded all the way to next-to-last.
That opened the door for Snappa’s STAR OF THE NORTH ($11.20), who represented the EAAA oh so well when she surged to the lead and held off Desperado Rob’s DERBY CAT by half a length. Saturday’s victory marked the fourth Grade 2 score of Star of the North’s fine career. She rises to No. 27 in the Distaff Classic rankings.
Apologies to Iant, whose fine filly, FROZEN STRAW, could not carry the ambitions of the retired WV reporter. She was the pick, but did not display her normal kick and finished seventh.
