Hypnotic Explosion Classic Recap
Hypnotic Explosion Recap
I touched the two envelopes in my pocket just as I saw Mind Eraser make the first steps of her powerful move and I wondered what was inside… Just before he left for NY Qwkivett had handed them to me and told me not to open them until after the race. One was marked “yours” and the other was marked “mine” and inside were two hefty win bets on Mind Eraser. I guess Qwik new which of his filly’s was here to win. Now I am boarding the plane back to NY with duffel bad full of cash, and it raised more than a few eye brows at the security check point. Even though Qwik was disappointed that Rock Hard Korn could not win the New Yorker, he was super pleased by the performance of his filly down in the Tar Heel state. He was even happier when I handed him ¾’s of the contents of the duffel bag. Here is how the race unfolded.
Korn Snake the winner’s stable mate went out for the lead pressed by Lygerbomb’s Coillete. The pace was fierce and would set up some late charges. The super hot pace bottomed out nearly all the field and fried the two pace setters. The favorite Sisson’s Mark dropped way back and was never heard from. The only horse that was towards the front of the pack that would hang in until the finish was Annana (ringott2) who was fourth from gun to wire. The rest of the field (see finish order below) including the two front runners would fade into obscurity as two horses charged together from the back picking off horses like shooting fish in a barrel. Wall of Salt the GRS Oaks winner and Mind Eraser (Fastvett) came to the front like houses a fire. Only one could win and after an anxious moment or two deep in the lane it was clear that Mind Eraser was the best of this group on Saturday. Borrow2 had to be very proud of his trainee as Wall of Salt turned in a brilliant performance running second. Obtrusive picked off all the tiring horses up front and picked up a GP for Super15. The 100 spf had to make Super feel that the best was still ahead for obtrusive. Coilette who had been on a super win streak was a well beaten 7th and Korn Snake managed to hold on for 5th.
What will be next for the hard knocking Mind Eraser? The 107 spf sends a warning shot to the rest of this division. Mind Eraser is a force to be reckoned with and with a wily trainer like Qwikvett you know she will be shrewdly placed. Of course we will have no idea where that will be until soft closing hour 4 or 5 weeks from now. Congrats on all who who made the first Hypnotic Explosion Handicap a tremendous event. I can’t wait for next year or Vett’s victory party tomorrow. Bound to be a blast… How many Mind Eraser’s can you drink?
