The BBR’s Maiden Turf Special

3602.1714 The BBR’s Maiden Turf Special is a five furlong race on turf for all horses 2 years old. 14 horses will take the post to break their maiden in this owner restricted race. As most of these horses dont have any starts i will be doing an analysis based on breeding and success of the sires.

1.       SPAREGHEES(FL) lglong2yoz  15/1 This filly is By Pavarotti who is sired by A.P. Indy out of a mare by Woodman.  Both of which suggest turf. The dam is sired by Stromboli who is by Unbridled  out of a Giacometti mare. Unbridled can go either way but will add distance to this pedigree making me think this filly might be better down the line and not so much today.

2.       QUEENSLAND TIMBER(JPN) qnslander2  14/1 This filly is by Timber country who is sired by Woodman out of a Pretence mare. The dam was sired by Battle Cry who was by Storm Cat out of a Secretariat mare. This fillies breeding suggest dirt sprint to me but woodman can throw both surfaces as well as Storm Cat can.

3.       RADAR ROCK(CAN)  albarace2  19/1 This 2 year old colt has one start to his name where he finished poorly going short on dirt. His sire, Weather Warning is by Storm Cat out of a Carson City mare which could suggest a turf preference. As well as his dams sire  prospected who is by the famed Mr. Prospector and out of an Irish river mare which is very turf and the Storm Cat is sprint. A good breeding for this race.

4.       ROMAN SULTAN(IRE) saltire2  9/1 This colt is by Iffraaj who is sired by Zafonic out of a Nureyev mare. This suggests turf. The dams sire Master Bill is by Forty Niner out of a Nijinsky II mare. Though imbred slightly Forty Niner imbred has produced good sprinters and with a turfy sire should do well.

5.       CHEWBACCA DEFENSE(KY) planobrgn  8/1 This filly is by Closing Argument who is sired by Successful Appeal whom I have seen produce some good sprint turf horses. The Dams sire is Lycius which has Lyphard as a Ds. This breeding also looks good for turf, especially since the filly has run one race on dirt where she finished poorly with a 51 speed.

6.       TONSILITIS(GER) planobrgn  7/1 This Filly is by Martillo who is sired by a son of Danzig out of an Affirmed mare. Danzig can produce very good turf horses and Affirmed in the sim has been good on both surfaces. Thos one also has Lycius as a Dams sire giving some more turf hint with Lyphard in his pedigree.

7.       ROWLEY MILE(IRE) oranje  8/1 This mare is sired by Intikhab who is sired by Red Random out of a Crafty Prospector mare. Red Ransom can throw either surface depending on who he is crossed with. The dam’s sire Flaged Down is by Deputy Minister who is a northern dancer line mixed with a turfy Sharpen Up line.  This one as his name suggests would be happier a bit longer but not too long. Around a mile.

8.       TOO MUCH LDS(TX)  txbred  9/1 –  This colt is sired by Dynameaux who is by Dynaformer out of an Alysheba mare. This is the same breeding that produced Dyna Aly who won the Breeder’s Cup Juvi in the sim way back when. Then turned turf. Quest for fame is very turf, Rainbow Quest by Green Dancer, all are very turf loving in the sim.

9.       HELLO MY NAME IS(KY)  bonnyd  9/1 This filly is by Silent Name who is by Sunday Silence and Danehill. Both very turf, and I have one colt by him who is skunked on both surfaces. Accelerator is one of my favorite bargain dam’s sires as he gives you A.P. Indy and  Mr. Prospector. When crossed with a strong northern dancer line this should produce a decent runner though her first effort on the off track proved not good.

10.   POPGUN(AUS)  bargainer  10/1 This filly is by Gunpowder who is sired by Danehill who is very turf out of a Seattle Dancer mare. The Dams sire is Timber County who is by Woodman out of a Pretence mare. Danehill is very strong line which produces good runners, and crossed with woodman that is also solid. This horse I would assume would like around a mile on turf.

11.    WICKED WACE(IRE) newmarket3  14/1 This mare is sired by Intikhab who is sired by Red Random out of a Crafty Prospector mare. The Dam’s Sire Wase is by Nijinsky II who generally because of his northern dancer lines enhances turf tendencies in the sire’s line.  That should give this colt a good shot at a turf sprint race.

12.   SHAWNEE MAC(CAN) winhunter  9/1 This Colt is sired by Shawnee Chief which is by Storm Cat X Chiefs Crown.  Chief’s crown carries the Danzig line which is good for a turf pedigree. Roar is the dams sire and though that’s very imbred to Northern Dancer this colt gets the turf from every angle and then sprint and ability at a young age from Storm Cat.

13.   VIBANK ROY(CAN) qnslander1  7/1 This horse is sired by Vibank who is by Silver Deputy who with ease shows a turf preference, as a 2 year old sire Vibank hasn’t had a chance to try turf, but so far dirt’s been unsuccessful. The Dams sire is Roy by frappiano, another turf line which can when match correctly make a nice turf horse but I would imagine a bit longer of a race.

14.   AMALRIC(FL) bbrs3  15/1 Repent in the sim has been well known to lean towards the turf. With Mr. Purple as the Dams sire this horse has a good strong Northern Dancer connection in both the sire and dams sire hopefully he will like the turf as he has a lot of it genetically in him. He also has one start on an off track where he posted a 47.

I think that 13, 8,6,5,1. There are my top 5. I generally don’t pick that many but with babies. Who can resist.
