Kentucky BB Sprint Day
We find ourselves in Kentucky for the Grade 3 – Kentucky BB Sprint to be run over 5.5F on a fast dirt track. We have a full field of 14 lining up to face the starter today so lets have a look at their form and see if we can find the winner.
Polish Reality – 38 – 16–9–1 13/1
Has been running below his best lately but on best form would be right in the mix. Last start in the G3 – Ferris Bueller Stakes over 6F he ran an improved race to post a 106SP although fadding on the line it was a good effort.
Get In The Van – 27 – 7–2–7 9/1
Has been running well in low level allowance races winning his last 3 races posting some impressive SP’s. Will be up riding the speed and might have the ability to kick on in the straight.
My Jocks Doing Days – 19 – 5–3–3 16/1
Has been running well in allowance races. He will be out the back early and might be able to run home however would have to find a few extra gears to trouble this field.
Chronic Addiction – 24 – 10–4–2 9/2
The race favourite after posting 100+SP’s in his last 8 starts. Will probably sit midfield and look to run home over the top of them. Last start in the G2 – Astroturf Sprint he sat midfield before running home well finishing 8th of 14. 5F might be a bit short and so is 9/2 for my money.
Kitty Heaven – 22 – 4–9–2 7/1
A nice effort last start in the G1 – Gary Carter Handicap finishing 7th beaten 5 length posting a 104SP over 7F. I think he found the 7F a touch long for him and I judge his chances on 3rd at his previous start posting a 110SP. Will appreciate the shorter trip and is a good chance
Driven By Demons – 18 – 5–6–1 13/1
A nice run in his first stakes run posting a beautiful win over 7 fulongs posting a 110SP. Before that was working through the allowance grades nicley and only has to follow up his last start to be a big chance.
Antique Gold – 13 – 4–5–0 9/1
Another who comes in to this with his last start in the G1 – Gary Carter Handicap finishing 10th after leading early eventually being beaten by 7 ¼ lengths posting a 100SP over 7F. The 7F was too long for him last time out and he has run some nice races over 6F in the past so he has to be a chance here.
Smokentate – 50 – 14–5–7 19/1
Ran a nice honest race last start in G1 – The Lannister Special placing 3rd over 6F posting a 99SP. A pleasing run the start before winning an allowance with a 106SP. Had his birthday last start finding a 6yo G1 event and would need to improve here.
Happy A – 27 – 8–0–3 10/1
A very dissapointing run last start in the G1 – Maryland Special finishing a long way from the winner. The start before was a nice run although fadding running 3rd posting a 106SP over 7F in the G1 – The Jimmy & Billy Stakes. Would need to improve here to win.
Stocking Filler – 18 – 6–1–2 11/1
Comes into this in career best form with his last 3 starts all posting 100+SP’s. 2 starts back he ran a very good 110SP in the G2 – The Wild West Dash Stakes posting a wire to wire win over 6F. If can repeat that he will be a place chance here.
Statue of Pye – 53 –8–15–9 9/1
Will get back early and will try and steam home late. Has been mixing his grades between stakes and allowance level with some nice results. Two starts back he ran 3rd posting a 108SP in a stakes race finishing it off well. Needs to improve but if he can may run a place.
Act of Brave – 40 –9–7–3 15/1
Has been below best of late runnin down the track and posting low SP’s. If he can duplicate his run 6 starts ago when he ran a massive 115SP over 6F he would be a winning chance here. Needs to improve a lot on latest efforts.
NWRC Quest – 30 –8–4–4 11/1
Another whose last 3 starts have been dissapointing. 4 starts back led all the way over 6F posting a 110SP in stakes level. Also would need to improve but if can recapture his best would be a place chance.
Figgaro – 27 –10–5–3 10/1
Has been running in allowance races and steps up to Graded level for the first time here. Won his only stakes race a long time ago but on recent runs I think others in this field have better chances. One thing I did notice that this would of been a great claim for only $15,000 and it was no suprise he only had 1 start down there.
Good Luck to all horses and trainers and I hope everyone comes home healthy.
