Redoute’s Rocks(AUS) rocks the field in Fantastic Ollie Handicap
Redoute’s Rocks(AUS) was ready to rock, and rock she did in this week’s Fantastic Ollie Handicap. The filly looked like a star as she took her competition gate to wire to notch her fourth career stakes victory. She posted a career best 101.5 speed figure as she grabbed her sixth career win in only eight starts. She has now earned $177840 in her eight starts, a mark of $22230 per race. The win also inched her that much closer to the top 50 three year old female Classic Turf runners, moving her into the number 52 division. With the favorite falling, and longshot bid Green Oasis(KY) rounding out the trifecta, bettors saw some satisfaction at the betting windows this week. The winner paid a nice $13.80 $7.50 $5.10 across the board. She also contributed to a $54.40 payout in the exacta, with the trifecta paying a quite nice $362.40 on a $2 bet.
There were no surprises early, as Redoute’s Rocks(AUS) took command of the pace from the gate, shadowed early by race favorite Ara Pasis(FR) and Unbridled Blue(JPN). By first call she had opened up a length and a half of breathing room, which she continued to extend as they approached the half. As they crossed the half, Unbridled Blue(JPN) was beginning to fade, and Ara Pasis(FR) was sitting in excellent striking distance two and a half off the pace set by the leader. Ara Pasis(FR) was holding her ground, but Redoute’s Rocks(AUS) was not giving an inch, and at third call, they were still sitting in the same spots as they prepared to move into the stretch. Ara Pasis(FR) began to push harder down the stretch, beginning to close some ground, but Redoute’s Rocks(AUS) remained unflustered, crossing the wire a length and a quarter ahead of the rushing Ara Pasis(FR). Green Oasis(KY) showed some excellent form, closing over seven lengths in the second half, six of those down the stretch to just edge out Perfect River(KY), five lengths out at the wire.
