The Extreme Test

Welcome to Longchamp for the running of the The Brick By Brick Special Grade III
Two miles Firm Turf $125,000 All horses, 4 year olds . Run over the ultimate distance its is the sternest test in racing it will be interesting to see who is trained to the minute for this. Lets take a look at them.

1 119368 DYNACITY(KY) kona R Miavia 19/1

Trained by Ss89 Stables he is a nice 4yrold by DYNAFORMER who has a reasonable record but has shown at these distances so far that he doesn’t have the stamina to get the journey and may be better suited in the classic distances. Did win the The CREVIS EN LA BURGS(IRE) Stakes-Stk over 11f 5 starts back on a wet track. So he shows he has class but distance may be his undoing.

2 133899 JUDAS(ENG) zwylde V McMahon 5/2

Trained by Black Label Stables this well fancied runner has some big question marks hanging over his head 7 wins from 16 starts and over $300,000 in stakes shows his class but it is at the distance that the queers come he has never run past 10f and he stop badly in that. He has raced mostly at a mile and has fashioned some good win the best probably was in the Jockey Club Classic-G2 as a 3yrold in a 111sp. Two starts back he won the Royal Calm Stakes-G3 over 8.5f with a 114sp then stopped badly in the last furlong in the 5th Running of THE DR. REUBEN GARR MEMORIAL-G1 to finish 12th has been freshened for this but again its hard to judge how he will fair over this distance we will have to wait and see.

3128857 ALUM BAY(IRE) super20 J Ledwith 3/1

Trained by the More Evil Than The Evil Empire! he is a full brother to DEAD SOLID PERFECT(IRE) who was a stakes winner also but not to this extreme distance. By HIGH CHAPARRAL (IRE) a noted sire of stayers this fellow has showed true class at the routing distances but he has never run this far. He has always finished of his long routing races in style and one would think 2 miles should be no worry and in fact may suit him perfectly. He has run 100+ in 7 of his last 8 starts all over distances greater than 12f a pretty good record. He has not won since the Canada Turf-G1 over 12f in October last year but has shown enough since to suggest a win is very near. Came home well in the Sand Castle Golden Turf Classic-G1 for 4th 2 starts ago so should have to much class for some of these.

4 43326 DAY OF OIL(KY) lordpye B Mann 10/1

Trained by The Big Oil Conglomerate [Ft. LordPye] this stunning 4yrold colt by ALDEBARAN has a proven record at 2 miles which is always a big plus when taking on the ultimate staying test. His record at this journey is 6 starts for 3 wins and 2 placing his only failure was on dirt so I would a surprise if he doesn’t feature in the first three here. He won the The FURIOUSLY PLEASE Special-Stk and The COLONIAL STREET Bonanza-Stk in consecutive starts over 16f. He has battled a little in his 4 starts this year and this is the only question mark on him.

5 144733 S R SILENT RAMPAGE(KY) gonesurfin B Head 10/1

Also trained by The Big Oil Conglomerate [Ft. LordPye] this cheaply bred 4yrold has shown a lot of improvement as the distances have in creased. He took 7 starts to clear maiden company but has a good record since only two stakes run were a bit ordinary but last time out in allowance company he did win a 12f race in a 102sp on a wet track still its hard to pick him against this field.

6 38723 BEAUMARIS(KY) fairhaven6 B Wu 8/1

Trained by THE EVIL EMPIRE comes this beautifully bred 4yrold CASTLEDALE (IRE) x SADLER’S WELLS x SEATTLE SLEW a classic bred if you’ve ever seen one he has never been out of the money in 14 starts. He has been taken along slowly by his trainer through the allowance grades and this has paid dividends in his recent racing. Three stakes races have produced 2 thirds and a stunning last start win in The R. I. P. SADDIE (AUS) Stakes-Stk last time out in a 102sp a nice race in a nice time. Will be in or near the lead all the way.

7 146774 LOST REMOTE(FR) westok M Mia 7/1

Red Dirt Runners produces this 4yrold son of the little known sire LESOTHO who surprisingly has 6 winners from 8 starters this horse being by far the best. He has won 5 from 12 and has been well handled by his heady trainer known for his smart positioning of his runners. Won two long distance allowance races then ran 2nd last time out in the The YOUR NIJINSKY Handicap-Stk over 13f in a nice 101sp. He may well find himself in the money at the end of this gruelling journey the one to back at longer odds.

8 116137 NAGA KING(KY) gonzo2 J Ventura 8/1

Yet another 4yrold who has shown marked improvement as the distances have improved this one trained by the delightful Ace Stables – RASH Division who has bought us the great shots of derby day on the front page she is a long time player and a great contributor to all thing sim. This colt has run some top races of late and is a brother to LARRY’S FAYE who is also a stakes winner on the dirt . He has really stepped up in his last three appearances with a win in The STORM SPARKY(IRE) Handicap-Stk over 11f in 105sp a 4th in The Archibald Primrose Classic-G2 over 12f and a win last time in The SEA REJECT Memorial-Stk untried at this journey and that’s the worrying thing.

914308 SHERLOCK(IRE) pigeon9 H Winkler 20/1

Its elementary my dear Watson that this 4yrold trained by Wests Tigers should race here recent racing has been on dirt tracks but he did start his career on turf and his trainer returns to the turf to see if this son of SADLER’S WELLS can produce a winning run. He has won over this distance on 2 of the 3 occasions he has tried it. An interesting runner who adds to the puzzle if he handles the turf he mat figure in this.

10 131656 FOOTSTEPS ON GRASS(GB) robroe S Graf 5/1

Last but certainly not least comes this 4yrold son of FOOTSTEPSINTHESAND who has won 6 from 19. After racing at the classic distances in his 3yrold year he has stepped up to longer journeys this year in his 4 starts as a 4yrold he has 2 wins and a 2nd 2 starts ago he won The DROP IN THE FIELDS Special-Stk over 16f in a 100sp so the distance will be no worry. Last time out he struggled in the Big Turf Race-G1 over 14f finishing 9th of 14 he has been allowed to freshen for third and may well improve a bit more here a graded win is not far away for him. He is trained by Brisma racing
