Undefeated Miscalculation wins The COSINE CUP

Adding to the excitement of Derby Day, Miscalculation remains undefeated as she takes the win in the first running of the Grade 1 COSINE CUP. With a speed of 105, she set the standard for this race with a time of 1:28 4/5 and with that win she reached over $1 million in career earnings. She stood proudly in the winner’s circle, barely breaking a sweat, with her ecstatic trainer fanatical by her side and her regular Kentucky jockey, D Givins.

So, let’s take a look and see what happened.

It was a clean break for the field and by the first call, only 5 lengths separated all fourteen horses in the field. Suhey was in the lead by a head over Justify. Miscalculation settled into third with Mean Girl just a whisker behind in fourth. In fifth was Sainte Chappelle. Minister of Honor, Al Forest, Kotton Kandy and Gilded Edge all were racing 3 ¼ lengths off the lead in sixth through ninth. Downtown Fargo was half a length behind them in tenth with ¼ of a length back to Pomeroy’s Quest in eleventh. Another ¼ of a length back was Stormspector in twelfth and Death’s Door raced in thirteenth another ¼ of a length behind her. Trailing the field was CK Ghost Prospect.

At the halfway mark it was still the same except it was 7 ¼ furlongs from the leader to the trailer. They were beginning to make their moves and by the third call it was Miscalculation who had taken over the lead. CK Ghost Prospect, who had been trailing the field had moved up into seventh and Stormspector had moved up from twelfth to fifth. Sainte Chappelle had moved up into third, 2 lengths back.

At the wire it was all Miscalculation, 1 ¾ lengths ahead of the field. CK Ghost Prospect had managed to move past the rest of the field to finish in second and Stormspector moved up to finish in third. Sainte Chappelle finished in fourth and Pomeroy’s Quest finished fifth. The favorite, Minister of Honor, failed to meet her expectations and finished in sixth.

Miscalculation has become a force to be reckoned with on the track. With seven wins in seven starts she has the makings of a great racehorse. Congratulations to Miscalculation and trainer fanatical for a great win today.

See you next week and the tracks. Have a good weekend.
