Blessed Road goes Two for Two!

Trainer Lasthope was seen giddily doing a jig in his box overlooking the finish of the OFF TILL STAR Bonanza Stakes here at Saratoga yesterday. The eight and a half furlong race for 2 year olds was an exciting one on the fast turf track.

Lasthope’s dancing mirrored the racing of his Kingmambo colt Blessed Road who danced his way to victory over the field of six. That makes the big chestnut colt two for two in his first two races and his blessed road ahead seems gilded in gold. He improved to an 82 speed figure and showed some heart down the stretch fighting off Inept Distortions who didn’t look so inept himself. Blessed Road looks to have that finishing kick that the good ones are able to reach back for when they need it.

Hopeless Hope and Hollow Candy set the early pace with a quick first quarter with Blessed Road and Inept Distortion stalking 4 back. At the top of the stretch, Blessed Road and Inept Distortion blew past the fading leaders and battled down to the wire. Road won by a neck and Hopeless Hope held on for third. Peace Sells was a worry as he finished way back on his first trip on the grass and it didn’t seem to suit him.

It will be nice to see Blessed Road and Inept Distortion meet again down the road as they both look like young studs that are going to keep improving.
